The introduction of a new Grand Theft Auto game remains one of the most eagerly awaited in the gaming business, with fans hoping for something major to come to the PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, publisher Take-Two Interactive has stated unequivocally that GTA 6 will not be released in 2021, and fan expectations for a surprise revelation at E3 2021 remain low. And it's probably for the best that the next Grand Theft Auto game won't be out until 2021. There are multiple reasons why this was always a long shot, as well as a few reasons why this year would have been a terrible time to release such a major next-gen title. Let's start with the most obvious reason that makes releasing GTA 6 in 2021 so unlikely: GTA 5 Online's long-term success. Grand Theft Auto V and its multiplayer mode have remained one of the most popular video games since its release in 2013. Not only is it still at the top of the sales statistics, but another port is set to open later this year. GTA 6 is shaping up to be a large game, and though we don't know much about it yet, it appears to be skipping the PS4 and Xbox One. As a result, the development team will be able to create a true next-gen Grand Theft Auto experience, replete with a reworked multiplayer component. However, things could have gone differently if Take-Two had decided to drop GTA 5 PS5 and Xbox Series X support this year in order to focus on the sequel. There would have been a far better probability of a cross-gen Grand Theft Auto 6 game being released in 2021. Take-Two would have made millions more in sales, but it would also have put a huge cap on what they might have done. For many fans, skipping PS4 and Xbox One consoles is a terrible thought, and the extended wait only adds to the excitement for the next game. Even if GTA 6 had been a next-gen exclusivity in 2021, it would have caused its own set of problems. Purchasing a PS5 or Xbox Series X system this year has been difficult, and many players will be unable to do so. These supply and demand concerns are projected to persist, which means that many GTA 6 fans would have been unable to play the game on release day. So, though it's annoying that we've been waiting for so long and that the situation is only going to get worse, it may have been better for GTA 6 to skip 2021. Rockstar Games hasn't stated much about what improvements are in the works for GTA 5, but they did issue a statement this week about the port, informing fans. “On November 11th, 2021, the enlarged and enhanced editions of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with additional features and more. As an added incentive, when the extended and enhanced editions of GTA Online are released this summer, gamers will be able to take advantage of additional bonuses. Plus, in honor of the genre-defining Grand Theft Auto III's forthcoming 20th anniversary, we'll have even more exciting surprises to reveal, including some exclusively for GTA Online fans. While the standalone version of GTA Online will be available on both platforms, the new standalone version of GTA Online will be accessible for free for the first three months only to PlayStation 5 gamers.

Thanks to a slew of expansions and DLC, Firaxis Games' Civilization 6 has remained relevant nearly five years after its release in late 2016. In April, the final free update for Civilization 6's New Frontier Pass was released, capping off a series of new civilizations that players can choose to represent, as well as a slew of other tweaks and fixes. Fans, on the other hand, have created their own civilizations, with one recently including Genshin Impact's Mondstadt. Genshin Impact, a Chinese developer miHoYo's open-world action-RPG with a gacha-based summoning system, has been a hit thanks to its gameplay, art direction, and accessibility on mobile, PC, and PlayStation consoles. While fans wait for the allegedly delayed Switch port of Genshin Impact, those who have already played it should be familiar with the German-inspired Mondstadt, the first nation available to explore.
PCGamesN reported on a Civilization 6 mod by user Kevin Liu that adds Mondstadt with three leaders: Genshin Impact characters Fischl, Barbara, and Noelle, which was first posted to Steam Workshop on May 19 by user Kevin Liu. Although its anime-inspired aesthetic clashes with previous Civilization 6 additions like Portugal, Liu's mod is comprehensive in that it includes unique geological locales, skins, and models from Genshin Impact, as well as mechanics like a Statue of the Seven tile that heals units instantly. Fans of both games will be pleased to learn that this mod includes over 40 minutes of Genshin Impact background music, with five to ten different tracks corresponding to each of Civilization 6's four eras. If players have already become accustomed to all of the New Frontier Pass' content, the three leaders included with the mod each offer their own specialized skills, players have plenty of room to learn new strategies.
While some argue that there are still plenty of opportunities for Firaxis to expand Civilization 6 with a second Season Pass, it's unclear whether the studio intends to do so or move on to something else entirely. It may seem absurd to imagine Firaxis starting work on a new Civilization game after completing the current one, but given how long Civilization 6 has been on the market, something new is almost certainly on the way. Meanwhile, mods like Liu's addition of Genshin Impact content to the strategy game should help it last longer. Beyond new content, miHoYo has been working on projects like implementing two-factor authentication to help players secure their accounts.

If you're looking for a second DualSense controller for couch co-op, you can now purchase one from the Apple Store. Simply put, don't go to Apple looking for a bargain. DualSense controllers are available for $70 from the tech giant, which is the same price as Sony. If you're looking to save a few bucks, Amazon is your best bet, with a DualSense controller going for $68. After an iOS update that added support for the controller, Apple has added Sony's DualSense to its store. Users can now use Bluetooth to connect the controllers to their iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV to play games, including those on the Apple Arcade. PlayStation owners can also use the PS Remote Play App to stream games to their devices. Keep in mind that while the DualSense comes with cutting-edge features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, you won't be able to use them if you're using an Apple device to play a game. In other DualSense news, Sony has revealed the first two new colors for the controller's next generation. Midnight Black and Cosmic Red variants have been added to the PlayStation 5 lineup, in addition to the standard white version. According to PlayStation's Isabelle Tomatis, the former has "different shades of black with light grey detailing," while the latter has "a striking black and red design inspired by the unique vivid shades of red found throughout the cosmos."

Victoria 3, the newest installment in the beloved series, has been unveiled by Paradox Interactive after over a decade of demand. Victoria 3 is a grand strategy game and society simulator, similar to its predecessors. The latest installment in the series will take place throughout the Industrial Revolution, from the beginning to the end of World War I, which should provide for an exciting backdrop! Players will be able to choose from dozens of countries. As of this writing, no release date for the game has been disclosed. Victoria 3 will be available on PC through Steam, the Paradox Store, and Xbox Game Pass for PC.
War will play a significant role in Victoria 3, as it did in the first two games in the series, but it will not be the game's primary focus. Everything that can be accomplished through battle in Victoria 3 can also be accomplished through diplomatic ties, according to a Dev Diary posted to the game's Steam page. Of course, players will have to determine for themselves how they wish to achieve their objectives and care for the citizens of their selected country. Microsoft's Surface Duo, a folding two-screen Android device, can now pull off a convincing Nintendo DS impersonation. After announcing Surface Duo in 2019, Microsoft released it last year. The ability to play games with the top screen folded toward you to show the game and the bottom screen angled to display only the touch controls was one of the first things it teased in its announcement trailer. It had the appearance of a DS or 3DS, but it lacked the physical controls on the lower half. Panos Panay, Microsoft's chief product officer, announced on Twitter that the device now supports Xbox Game Pass Ultimate streaming games, just like in the video.
This doesn't mean Microsoft is giving Surface Duo owners an entirely new way to play their Game Pass games; it only works with a limited number of titles that already support touch controls, which includes games like Sea of Thieves and Minecraft Dungeons. Even though it uses the same basic control scheme, this one has the advantage of allowing you to see the entirety of your game rather than being obscured by on-screen controls (and your thumbs). Microsoft, unlike Nintendo and Sony, has never released a dedicated gaming handheld console. This could be the closest thing to an Xbox Series DS we'll ever get.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on live events in the video game industry. Ni no Kuni 2 will be released on the Nintendo Switch on September 17, according to Bandai Namco. Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom - Prince's Edition is the Switch version of the 2018 JRPG, and it includes all three DLC Expansions: The Lair of the Lost Lore, The Tale of a Timeless Tome, and the Adventure Pack. You can expect new dungeons, story content, cosmetics, and more if you've played the base game but haven't had time to play the expansions. Ni no Kuni 2 will set you back $59.99 on the Nintendo Switch.
If you haven't played Ni no Kuni 2 yet, consider this a gentle reminder that if you enjoy JRPGs or even just good-natured, colorful, heartwarming adventures in general, you should. The new real-time combat system with those ridiculously cute Higgledies works really well, and it has some of my favorite towns to explore in any video game. It's "like shooting sunshine right into your veins," as our Ni no Kuni 2 review puts it, which, let's be honest, is exactly what everyone needs in 2021. 'Why have you gone and said that when we Nintendo fans have to wait until September to play it?' you might be thinking. The good news is that you can play the excellent original Ni no Kuni on Switch right now, as well as watch the Ni no Kuni movie on Netflix. In terms of the series' future, we know that a third Ni no Kuni game is in the works at Level-5, but we haven't heard anything about it in a while.

Immortals Fenyx Rising, a brand-new IP based on Greek gods, was launched by Ubisoft last year. In the video game industry, new single-player brands can be difficult to sell, but it appears that the publisher is pleased with the game's performance. Ubisoft's chief financial officer Frederick Duguet praised the game's performance on a conference call with investors, as well as the Nintendo Switch edition of Fenyx Rising. Unreal Engine was used to produce the futuristic animated music video for Empire Of The Sun member Luke Steele's new electronic music project, H3000. Epic Games owns the 3D video game engine that was used to build Fortnite, Street Fighter V, and the 2020 remake of Final Fantasy 7. Steele and producer-songwriter Jarrad Rogers, widely known for his work with Charli XCX and Lana Del Rey, collaborated on H3000. Steele was working on the DREAMS collaboration with Daniel Johns when the two met in a Los Angeles studio. Rogers was introduced to him by M-Phazes, a producer. Steele said, “It was the beginning of summer in California, which is always such a beautiful time.” “We've just made contact. The band is about the stars and what the heart difficulties will be in the year 3000.” The pair play avatars Luke 18 and Mstr Rogers in the video for their new slow-burning tune "Running," in which they are chased across the black tundra back to their craft after "liberating" an artefact.

Many players praised Grindstone in particular when Apple Arcade launched in September 2019 with a suite of games. The cartoony puzzle game was finally released on PC. For the time being, Grindstone is only available on the Epic Games Store. It normally costs $20, but it's currently on sale for $15 as part of a launch promotion. Additionally, as part of Epic's Mega Sale, you can get a $10 credit to use on a single title, lowering the price of Grindstone to $5. Grindstone is a game developed by Capy, who also created Below and Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery. Players must guide a character through maze-like levels arranged on grids. Players must hack their way through chains of enemies of the same color while avoiding traps.
It's also available on Switch, in addition to Apple Arcade and PC. Capy has consistently added new levels and challenges to the game in significant updates. Fortune Grind, the most recent update, adds a wheel of fortune to the Daily Grind mode, which adds modifiers to each run. Fortune Grind is included in the Epic Store version, which is up to date with the other versions.

For a Special Weekend event in Pokemon Go, Niantic is teaming up with Verizon and other companies. The event will take place on May 29-30 and will include special Pokemon spawns, exclusive Research tasks, and other benefits for ticket holders, as well as some bonuses for non-ticket holders. Verizon (USA), 7-11 (Mexico), and Yoshinoya (Japan) are among the event's sponsors (Japan). To participate in the event, you'll need to get a ticket from your region's respective partner and redeem it on Niantic's website. Due to the "severity of recent attacks" that "target [its] loyal community members," Sony has shut down its LittleBigPlanet servers. While the tweet did not specify what the attacks entail, Eurogamer reports that "offensive messages" are to blame for the servers' downtime. "We are aware that some of our community are experiencing issues with the servers," the official LittleBigPlanet recently tweeted. "Please be assured that we are investigating these new attacks and will update you when we know more." "Due to the severity of the recent attacks we have no other option than to temporarily disable the game servers," a tweet from earlier today added. "We do not take these attacks lightly especially when they target our loyal community members. Thanks for understanding."
The problems, as Ali explained a few months ago, date back to at least March 12, when Sony support studio XDEV first tweeted to inform fans that there was a problem "While we investigate some technical issues, our LBP servers have been taken offline. We'll get back to you as soon as possible ". The developer had hoped to have "the service resumed before the end of [March]," but the problem took much longer to resolve. Some fans speculated that the outage was caused by a DDoS attack by a disgruntled player at the time, but there was no official word at the time on what caused the outage or what is causing the problems now.

Gaming-themed Airbnbs are all the rage right now, as we previously reported on IGN Southeast Asia, giving a venue for gamers everywhere to take a break from the ordinary and kick back with state-of-the-art gaming sets. The most recent gaming Airbnb property we looked at was in Malaysia's Shah Alam, and it allowed six pals to game together. Another listing we came across promises a large space for 16 gamers to congregate.
