Our first non-live video! In this episode, Pauline and Donavan indulge in questions of the metaverse. First, we ask what the metaverse is, dwell into our own gaming and VR experiences, before attempting to debate whether VR, AR and XR could enjoy greater prominence beyond the gaming and education domains.
Being our first non-live video, we are likely to optimise the format further. Do give us your suggestions on how we should improve this!
A Chat with Patrick Chang - Wealth Coach, Entrepreneur, and Game Designer
What does it take to be an Entrepreneur?
#fukuppy was the actual name of a short-lived mascot created by Japan to ease the Japanese public’s fears following the Fukushima nuclear accident. Needless to say, this was not the best move. 🤯 Check out our podcast to hear more about our take on why #nuclearpower is an oft-misunderstood source of alternative energy!
Being a PhD candidate involves many more practical and political considerations than most people think - chief of which is being adept at building relationships and connections in academic circles.
Xueqing, doctoral candidate at Princeton, reinforces this point in her conversation with us on our latest podcast episode!

Future of Work: Perspectives from us!
The pandemic has changed a lot of the way we work, but it isn't the sole driver of the modern revolutions in the workplace. What other factors are involved and what do we think about them? Listen to find out!
Education: What goes into doing a PhD?
A PhD is often seen as “the pinnacle” of the traditional educational system. It has also become associated with many opinions and cultural quirks over the years - but at the bottom line, it is the entryway into the world of academia, or high level private research.
One common misconception is that doing a PhD necessarily means one’s end goal is being a professor or teaching at a tertiary institution. For example, even in the early days of data science in 2015, 38% of data scientists on LinkedIn reported having a doctorate. Meta (previously Facebook) also encourages the development of potential talent with doctorates with its Facebook Fellowship Program.
What remains less seen, however, is the ins and outs of actually pursuing a doctorate. The path can be long and filled with many challenges. The decision to pursue one is not trivial, as it involves many additional years of education on top of an undergraduate degree and sometimes a masters.
We’re glad this week to have Ms Xueqing Wang - a current doctoral student in Demography and Social Policy at Princeton University - to share some of her experiences with us!
Episode 15: Tuition and the Spirit of Learning?
Singapore has been dubbed “tuition nation” since a decade ago, as a reflection of our competitive society. In fact, tuition is a S$1.4 billion industry in Singapore, as of 2018’s Household Expenditure Survey.
Recently, the Chinese government announced a crackdown on tuition in lieu of skyrocketing disparities between the “haves” and “have-nots”. Clearly, this suggests that tuition is not a uniquely Singapore problem.
Having said that, with the saying “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”, let us hear from our tutor turned into brainmaster what he thinks about tuition, and perhaps, find a way for our children to maximise their learning while saving time and money?
A week ago, on our live stream, a few members of the audience enquired about Don's "hat". He's glad to show one of the hats he wears... in the metaverse, while having our team meeting. ;-)
Give us a like and/or shoutout if you want to see more hats that Don wears.

VCC: January Episode with Pauline
Introducing our first live stream episode for 2022 for our theme on education!
When we were younger, we went to school because it was compulsory. Slowly, we began to take charge of our learning and eventually traversed through the education system. But what does that all mean in a world where we talk about "learner-centric" education? What does it mean when we say that we should take charge of our own learning? Join Pauline and us as we unravel key milestones that we go through as rites of passage, but do not always question: going through the education system.
Pauline is passionate about learning and development, having been a teacher and communications professional who created, implemented and managed various projects, at national and international levels. In 2020, she ventured into the entrepreneurship space with the goal of enabling learning through technology. Currently she is an education and training professional.
