It’s a new year and time for the Word of The Year!

Last year’s word was Voice, and after doing some reflection in December, I learned that I somehow lost it along the way as I was taking on a lot & also giving a lot of myself away. And in turn, creating (especially for my business) took a major back seat.

But as I continued digging deeper I realised that my motto of “designing your life” is exactly what I needed!

So my 2025 Word Of The Year is 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 (or design-led)! And there are two kinds:

𝟏. 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 (𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲)
Making sure that I allocate time to step back into the creative space to grow my business; working on design projects & creating a line of illustrative products😊

𝟐. 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 (𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠)
Outside of my business, I want to design my work - curating tools & priorities so that I am more intentional & have less burnout. I want to feel more energized & that things are more aligned rather than it consuming me ⚡️

Had been in a creative funk lately, but as of last week, I’m so proud of myself for getting out of it! 🎨✨ Thanks to an inspiring book (review coming soon - stay tuned!), I got back to creating.

After a refreshing shower, I donned my creative cap (okay, it was a shower cap 😂) and got to work. Proud to have planned 2 weeks of content and even managed to create most of it!

This week is all about posting and finishing up the remaining content 💪📅 How do you get out of a creative funk?

I love reading books like this as there’s so much of nuggets and new perspective to be gained!

In the case of Collective Wisdom, its made up of individual and intergenerational stories. Each a reflection of their life and its challenges, and what they have learned from them.

As I read each story, it made me think of personal branding. Just as how one would put careful consideration into a brand for a business - what story do we want to convey? Who are we attracting etc. I would like to think the same care and thought will be given towards how would I like to brand myself.

Age is not just a number. Every year, we get to live life is a precious gift. Each age is chock full of unique memories & experiences. So do I wanna brand myself as one who lives a doom & gloom life? Or do I wanna brand myself as one who lives life like an amusement park? Where there’s a myriad of emotions and experiences - the sweet, the salty, the ugly; but at the end of each tiring visit, I still walk away happy & excited to come back the next day! Just like these amazing women & their inspiring stories 💖💖

Time to time, I like to switch from music to podcasts, and let me tell you Hey Biz Buds podcast is truly enjoyable.

It’s like gathering with a bunch of close friends – unfiltered, genuine, and oh-so-relatable. And when you catch them on YouTube, it’s even funnier because you’re seeing real faces instead of just voices!

What I adore most? It’s run by 6 amazing women, each taking turns to dive into topics they’re passionate about. Plus, there’s a local vibe to it which gives you that sense of familiarity! I find myself binge-listening and revisiting certain points, which is why they’re on my list of favorites🎧💫 Go listen to them! ❤️

Truth be told, in the beginning I didn’t do user personas because I wanted to be for all, whoever needed design services.

But since taking up UI/UX course on Coursera, I understood user personas more better and decided to revisit them to help strengthen my brand identity.

It’s still a work in progress, but we getting there with clarity 👍🏽
