The Swedish government is moving forward with language and civics tests for citizenship, with the aim of rolling them out 'as soon as possible'.
The government says the tests should be rolled out in two steps: first, a test which will quiz citizenship applicants on their knowledge of Swedish society as well as their Swedish reading and listening abilities.
The second step will test applicants on their written and oral Swedish.

The Swedish Migration Minister's plan to make the new longer wait for citizenship apply retroactively is a 'direct attack on well established principles of rule of law', according to a new petition.
Patrick Henry Gallen, an American in Malmö, launched the "No retroactivity in the new citizenship law" petition on Monday, with the online appeal receiving nearly 2,300 signatures by Friday.

Swedish police searching for motive in country's worst mass shooting
Police investigating Sweden's worst-ever mass shooting are still trying to pin down a motive for the attack, which claimed 10 lives on 4 February. The killing spree unfolded at an adult education centre in the town of Orebro, west of Stockholm, that reportedly offered Swedish classes to immigrants. Police say interviews with witnesses and those with links to the perpetrator are ongoing.

Sweden reels from worse mass shooting in its history.
10 people plus the suspected gunman were killed in a shooting at an adult education centre in the city of Orebro in Sweden. Candles were lit and flowers laid out as people passed by to pay their respects to the victims. Police are working to establish the reason for the killing spree.
