Last job this year, new frets on a 1966 Fender Jazz Bass that recently had an “unfortunate” refret causing a lot of damage to the fretboard and plenty of glue all over with the frets still coming loose.
I managed to restore most of it with just small visual damages to the fretboard left without sanding down the thin rosewood veneer more than a few fractions of a millimeter.
Now it’s probably the best jazz bass I’ve ever played.
It’s going to be for sale at Elmelid Musik soon.
See you next year.

Sealing dents and cracks in the finish of a guitar with low viscosity cyanoacrylate, also known as thin superglue, is utterly pleasing.

We’re very happy and proud to present the newest addition to Malmö Gitarrverkstad, @heddastrandberg is as talented at fixing guitars as she is playing them.
Hedda gave this 60’s Levin guitar new strings a cleaned fretboard and adjusted the string height.

Glueing shims in the neck pocket of a ‘60s Höfner Club Bass to get a tight fit instead of filling the void with glue like they did at the factory back when it was built.

On tour in Sweden with The Sounds and found a Hagström Guitars exhibition at a museum, a great way to spend the hours waiting for load in at the venue. #malmögitarrverkstad

Been doing a lot of fretwork lately, here's a slow motion clip of a Gibson SG Standard after leveling, crowning and the polishing that I do with abrasive papers, last thing to do before new strings and a full setup will be to buff the frets to really make them shine. /Posted by Niklas/#malmogitarrverkstad
Today I'm at Gula Studion in Malmö to start the recordings of the second album with @liarthiefbandit that I just joined as a bass player. There's a lot of really neat guitars and basses here. #malmögitarrverkstad
#tb to Saturday night in Balingen, Germany at the Bang Your Head Festival where Hammerfall invited four Swedish folk musicians to help them celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album Glory To The Brave.
Not everyday you see both pyrotechnics and key harps on the same stage. #malmögitarrverkstad
A customer put his Gretsch Streamliner G2622T down a bit too fast and without removing the cable so the jack was pushed all the way in through the side of the guitar.
Here Max is removing the broken pieces of wood and creates a nice clean and round hole that will be covered with a metal plate to hold the new jack. #malmögitarrverkstad
It's 3AM and the working day is over, @thesoundsband pulled off a great show without breaking even a single string which means that I had quite an effortless job. #malmögitarrverkstad
