At Elektrish you can experience and explore a vast range of vintage and classic synthesizers and drum machines. Book a reservation to get access to all instruments in the studio or experience the collection with a private guided tour. Our mission is to preserve and provide access to an extensive collection of vintage electronic instruments for musicians, producers and the public. Individual rates start at €50 an hour, but if you are an established artist there is a good chance that we will let you use our studio for experimentation and recording at no cost. Elektrish at Österlen Filmfestival.

On September 8, Elektrish will be at Grand in Simrishamn for the screening of Düsseldorf, Skåne as part of Österlen Filmfestival.

Doors open at 18:00, and before the film starts at 19:00, Elektrish will be in the foyer with instruments connected to the film.

The highlight is the actual Roland System 100 used in the production.

I’ll be there to demonstrate the instruments and talk about how they work.

After the screening, producer Nicholas Wakeham will take part in a conversation about the making of the film.

Last time, I showed you where Elektrish will be. Now, a glimpse of the story I want to tell.

What does a 200-ton machine from 1906 have to do with a synthesizer museum?

Quite a lot, actually.

Thaddeus Cahill’s Telharmonium, also known as the Dynamophone, was one of the earliest large-scale attempts to create music electrically. The machine was enormous, but the basic idea feels surprisingly modern: electrically generated tones, controlled from a keyboard, with music distributed to listeners through the telephone network.
