For the last Substantiv mix of 2024 we presents NASTYA NVRSLP, a Montreal-based electronic music artist from Ukraine, who describes her sound as a dynamic fusion of raw techno, groovy rhythms, and acid vibes, all laced with nostalgic beats. In 2022, Nastya made the brave decision to leave Ukraine and start a new chapter in Canada. Montreal became her refuge, offering both safety and a rich mix of musical influences that would soon shape her artistic path. She brought her experience from the Ukrainian techno scene with her, and it wasn’t long before the local scene embraced her unique sound. Known for her ability to craft a distinct atmosphere, Nastya Nvrslp has quickly gained a following, playing in some of the most respected underground venues across Canada and Europe.

For this mix we welcome FABIAN ZIEMER. Growing up in a Hamburg suburb, Fabian Ziemer’s first musical coordinates were metal, punk, dark wave, synth-pop, EBM & industrial. After several forays into nightlife, he turned his attention to the hard techno of style icons such as Jeff Mills, DJ Rush and Dave Clarke. Fabian completes the following steps in the classic way: in the record store and at home on the decks. Since then, his early passion for black gold has never left him. His playful style, originality, and precision has also just gone from strength to strength during his residency at the legendary club NTSC in Hamburg (formerly known as PAL).

For this mix we present SYLK. SYLK is a Munich-based techno producer and DJ whose music blends hypnotic grooves with gritty atmospheres. Driven by warm sounds, versatile rhythms, nostalgia, and unusual textures, he began translating his vision into productions that also guide the artistic direction of his imprint label, SLK. His latest vinyl release showcases the distinctive sound of the label, combining the storytelling of old-school tunes with driving grooves. Other releases have appeared on labels such as Trau-ma, Koncept, and Voidware. He is one of the minds behind Surge, a Munich-based event series that enriches the local techno scene with its forward-thinking vision.

For this mix we present ANXIETY. ANXIETY is an Italian producer and DJ based in Trieste. He's currently the label head, alongside Nicola Virnicchi, of Das Kollektive. He focuses on raw, dark and industrial productions and have been featured on labels such as Insane Industry Recordings, Expel Your Demons, Carbone Records, MOTZ, Flash Recordings, and many more. He's currently pursuing his vision with lots of exciting collaborations ahead both as a producer, DJ and label head.

For this mix we present FUAM. FUAM is a DJ/Producer from Dublin, Ireland. Taking influence from his Irish roots, the name FUAM is derived from the Irish word for sound. He enjoys playing various styles of techno ranging from old school and hard groove to more percussive techno. FUAM has previous releases on some notable labels including Ismus Berlin, Motz Berlin, Mainmise Records, Research and an EP release on COUP. FUAM has co-founded Dublin based collective Hybrid Events from which he promotes both local and international artists in what is an evolving Irish techno scene.

For this mix we present ARANEA. With roots from the Middle East and based in Gothenburg, Sweden she’s taken the Swedish scene by storm, both as a co-founder of the CXVII collective, a kink-friendly community and its podcast series, and a resident at Equus, where the focus is on highlighting female energy, and of course her highly energetic techno sets. She has made her mark not only across Sweden, but also in Berlin and in Finland, with her first release on the way, which opens the mix for this episode, giving listeners a preview of what’s to come.

For this mix we present BECCAH. Formerly known as Marco D, began his career at the age of 18. He was also a resident DJ at a famed after hour spot in Bielefeld. After these formative years, his sound became more inspired by techno from the late 90s and early 2000s. When he moved to Berlin he decided to give up his old alias and to start a new project called Beccah. As an absolute underdog, just trough pure passion, and skill Beccah has shared his vision.

For this mix we present CRY.NN. CRY.NN and his journey through the electronic jungle is far from being finished. As a young artist from the Czech periphery, he has found his intuitive approach to techno and genres outside of it in the radar of the most prominent labels in the current hard techno scene. His discography includes releases on major labels such as The Meaning Of Rave, SINDEX, Flesh and Hammers and Childsplay, showcasing his ability to describe his surroundings with abrupt and striking sounds. His main motive is to bring fresh, unheard sound into the world.

For this mix we present NICOLA VIRNICCHI. Nicola Virnicchi is a Zürich-based DJ and producer. Thanks to his unique underground style he was became resident DJ at the Alibi and soon after at the Qube in Rome. In recent years he played on many consoles on the Adriatic coast. In 2011 he co-founded Dislike, an organization that operates in the setting of the clubbing underground where he worked together with many international DJs. He is also one of the label heads at Das Kollektive in Trieste, and a co-founder of Hydra Cvlt in Ljubljana, and a highly prolific producer on many labels around the globe.

For this mix we present GRĒTA, who is a young and promising DJ/producer that for the last two years quickly have become one of the most frequently booked names in Stockholms local techno scene. She recently spread her wings in both Berlin, Copenhagen and Athens as well and had her first release this summer on Berlin-based Para//e/ Label’s new VA. Known for highly energetic and uniquely carved out sets, GRĒTA keeps captivating every crowd she steps in front of with her genre-bending sound.

For this mix we present GT7. GT7 is a Stockholm-based DJ from Tbilisi, Georgia. His DJ career started in Stockholm just over a year ago and he played several times in Stockholm and Gothenburg. GT7 is also a co-founder and resident DJ of Four_6_Collective. He is known for his hard, energetic, and industrial sound.

For this mix we present Paulitical / Scottish Power. Paulitical is a Scottish producer, DJ, and label boss at Still Distant Records, with many years experience of playing in the likes of London's Corsica Studios and Berlin's Griessmuehle. He also has a back catalogue of productions released on his label and other notable labels such as Otomo Trax, Insane Industry, Nu Body Records and Scale Trax. His style sits somewhere between industrial techno, EBM and post punk. Still Distant Records is a label from Glasgow, Scotland that has now branched out to Copenhagen. It has a history of events in Glasgow that has seen the likes of Adam X, Bloody Mary, JKS, Parrish Smith and Thomas P Heckmann, who has also released on the label itself.

For this mix we present RAMKKA. RAMKKA is a DJ and producer from Ireland that has been fascinated with techno since he was a teenager. His love for the genre developed after seeing Dave Clarke many years ago and he has been DJing since then, with his production career coming in more recent years. His brand of techno is dark, hard and industrial, with fast pace heaviness and smooth transitions. With a number of releases on labels across Europe and worldwide he has quickly become known for his own sound and plans on bringing it to a bigger audience in the coming months and years. In addition to this, RAMKKA co-founded Immortal Nights earlier this year, an event series showcasing the harder side of techno. The events have been met with great success among fans, and there are many exciting plans in store for the future.

For this Substantiv mix we present TÖRIA. Töria who’s originally from Brazil is now a resident in Portugal. Her approach to techno is unique and captivating, with hypnotic beats and noisy textures that take us on a dark trip to a world of our own. She is also supported by international labels such as Subverted, Instruments of Discipline and Istigkeit, and recently co-founded her own label, OCCULT Records. She is also part of her project UNNATURALISM together with her partner PEIX.
