Packed with spectacular imagery and new-to-science behaviour, Europe is one of the most ambitious wildlife series ever made.

THE SCORE: “Over three years in the making, with more than 1,000 days of filming across 30 countries, the series demanded a score as diverse, powerful, and nuanced as the continent itself. Spanning nearly six hours of footage, the resulting four hours of original music blend lush orchestral grandeur with modern electronic textures, reflecting Europe’s breathtaking contrasts—from the serene majesty of its mountain ranges to the raw, elemental energy of volcanoes and fire. Each piece captures the continent’s emotional and geographical depth, uniting nature and storytelling in sound. THE COMPOSERS: Christian Heschl is an award-winning film and television composer based in Vienna who creates music that blends cinematic orchestral depth with modern sound design and synthetic atmospheres. At only 30 years old, Christian has already built an impressive body of work across high-profile international productions featured on major platforms including Disney+, NatGeo, AppleTV+, AMC+, Netflix, AmazonPrime, ARD, ORF. His recent credits include the six-part adventure series Lost Cities Revealed for Disney+ and National Geographic, the science documentary Super Reefs (NatGeo/Hulu), NBC/SyFy’s Like Hell I Won’t on comic icon Todd McFarlane, and the PBS/Terra Mater feature Hippo King. Alex Komlew is an award-winning film composer, music producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, who has written the music for nearly 60 film and television projects, featured on platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, HBO, and all major broadcasters in the German-speaking world. In addition to his work on live-action films across a wide range of genres, he has extensive experience in the field of animation, having scored several feature films and series in recent years that have captivated young audiences worldwide. Among his artistic works beyond film is his EP “Triptychon” for string orchestra, which highlights his versatility between autonomous music and the cinematic medium. His compositions have earned him numerous accolades, including the Rolf Hans Müller Award for Film Music and the FIPA Award, as well as two nominations for the Crystal Pine Award in 2023.

New release: PARK AVENUE (Stephen Warbeck)

Original score from the 2025 drama feature film directed by Gaby Dellal, starring Fiona Shaw, Katherine Waterston and Chaske Spencer, produced by Rimsky Productions and Washington Square Films.

THE STORY: Paralyzed with her life as a rancher, Charlotte runs away from her controlling husband and returns to her mother’s apartment, rediscovering her teenage love and the life she left behind. Now mother and daughter will face unshared truths.

THE SCORE: “The score for Park Avenue needed to be personal, eccentric and not be outside the scale of the story. We wanted Kit’s unique vision of life to be reflected in the music. The director, Gaby Dellal, was determined that the music should never seem sentimental or mawkish. A few months before the recording, I was on holiday and I saw an outdoor gig featuring Lars Danielsson who was playing with a friend, John Parricelli. Listening to him play, I wanted to put his sound at the centre of the composition., and I constructed the music around this. I also built a lot of it around the interplay between the cello (Nick Cooper) and the bass. The ensemble that recorded this music is made up of a mixture of jazz and classical musicians.” – Stephen Warbeck

THE COMPOSER: Stephen Warbeck is one of the the most successful British composers working in film today. His many credits include Shakespeare in Love, for which he won an Oscar for Best Original Score; Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, Billy Elliott, Birthday Girl, Quills, Mrs Brown and My Son the Fanatic (BBC/Zephyr Films/Miramax). Stephen began studying piano and composing at the age of four, and by his mid-teens he had developed an affinity for rock ‘n’ roll as well as for theatre. Stephen is a founder member of The Kippers, with which he still regularly performs. His previous releases on MovieScore Media includes the best-selling, lush orchestral score for Princess Ka’iulani.

New release: NOAH (Joan Vilà)

Original score from the 2025 documentary feature film directed by Louise Brix Andersen, produced by BSGlobalTV, Limmat Films and RTVE.

THE STORY: Noah, 26, fights seven rare incurable diseases, transforming her struggle into a story of resilience and medical progress. Her experience highlights how crucial robust healthcare is for complex medical cases.

THE SCORE: “The biggest challenge in composing the score for this documentary was to create music that avoided easy dramatization and remained as respectful as possible to Noah’s story. I wanted the music to express her emotional journey while also revealing who she was — from her activist spirit to her most intimate and difficult moments. The goal was to write a score that was mostly emotional and nostalgic, but above all filled with light and hope.” – Joan Vilà

THE COMPOSER: Born in Barcelona, Joan has been active in the film music scene since 2014. He is known for his work on the feature films Y todos arderán, Quién eres, Blue Rai, Capa Negra, L’amant del silenci, Verano Rojo and Desmuntant Leonardo and more than 30 short films. He is a Terror Molins International Horror Film Festival winner for Y todos arderán, Hollywood Music in Media Award Winner for Quién eres (released by Movie Score Media in 2020) and a Jerry Goldsmith Award Winner for Macarrones con tomate, among other international recognitions.

A FRIEND OF DOROTHY: Original score from the 2025 drama comedy short directed by Lee Knight, starring Miriam Margolyes, Alistair Nwachukwu and Stephen Fry, produced by Filthy Gorgeous Productions, A Marlow’s Production, Double Dice Films and Namesake Films.

THE STORY: A lonely widow’s quiet life is upended when a teenage boy accidentally kicks his football into her garden.

THE SCORE: “In this film, an unlikely friendship blossoms in a sensitive portrayal of connection across generations. The chamber score is performed by solo string players, and accompanies JJ’s tentative discoveries about both himself and his new friend, eventually expanding into an uplifting central montage sequence capturing the two leads’ joy in each other’s company.” – Stuart Hancock

LARGO: Original score from the 2025 drama short directed by Max Burgoyne-Moore and Salvatore Scarpa, starring Tamsin Greig, Kevin McNally and Roy Taylor, produced by Slick Films, Plan Nine Pictures and Studio Goodluck.

THE STORY: A young Syrian refugee living in the UK without his parents decides to build a boat and sail home to find them.

THE SCORE: “The music is a meshing of east and west – Musa’s yearning theme is captured by the strains of the oud from his homeland, and his foster mother, the lonely widow Grace, by the sounds of a dirty Rhodes piano. Booming percussion and distorted pads accompany the tensions Musa encounters with the hostile locals, whilst the plaintive double-reed cor anglais, an instrument that straddles both cultures, gives us the sound “Largo”, the ramshackle boat that Musa turns in his perilous attempt to reunite with his parents. I was thrilled to collaborate and record with the London-based Syrian oud player Rihab Azar, whose performance gives the score an deep emotional connection to the story.” – Stuart Hancock

THE COMPOSER: Stuart Hancock is a British composer, known for his music for the BBC fantasy drama Atlantis, the Channel 4’s animated TV special We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and the Netflix comedy-horror Crazyhead. Stuart won an Ivors Classical Award in 2015 for his large-scale concert work Snapshot Songs, and has garnered considerable industry recognition for his commercial, documentary, TV and film music, including multiple Jerry Goldsmith Awards. Stuart, who studied at the London College of Music, maintains a varied composing career across all media. Raptures, his debut album of concert works, recorded with the BBC Concert Orchestra, was released in 2019. Last year, MovieScore Media released the multi-award winning score for Kensuke’s Kingdom, the label’s eighth album collaboration with Hancock.
