"Grief is very primal. it’s like getting infested by a power that either will eat you or lead you depending on how you ride it. It’s about processing the acceptance of the fact that people you love are gonna die. We are tricked into moving very far from death when it’s not acutely in our eyesight, on our schedule. That can be very limiting. It’s lovely to take someone for granted, but relations that have a calmness about the fact that they will not last forever probably leaves you a better person"

Jesper Lindell laddar upp inför releasen av hans tredje fullängdsalbum, ”Before The Sun”. Första singel ut är öppningsspåret ”One Of These Rainy Days” (release 3 november 2023), en pärla som omedelbart placerar oss i ett musikaliskt landskap som är välbekant och nytt på en och samma gång. Ett landskap där storheter som Van Morrison, Boz Scaggs och The Band tidigare satt sina spår och som Jesper Lindell tar över med en uppfriskande glöd och energi.

”Before The Sun” är liksom föregångaren ”Twilights” inspelad och mixad hemma i Brunnsvik utanför Ludvika och producerad av Björn Pettersson och Jesper Lindell. Förutom sitt trogna och väl sammansvetsade band gästas plattan av Brunnsvik Horns och amerikanska folk/country-stjärnan Kassi Valazza.

”Before The Sun” släpps via Gamlestadens Grammofon/Border på CD/LP och digitalt den 1 mars 2024.

'Solitude' is in many ways the separation album that many artists make at some point during their career, but what makes this album unique is that the songwriters themselves jointly processed their separation through composing the songs. Just like on the previous solo album 'BareBones', Hanna collaborates with lyricist, also former partner, Craig Stanton Thomas.

“'Solitude' is a collection of the most personal songs Craig and I have ever written. It tells a lot about who I am and what I've been through lately, but it also looks forward to something new. We wrote the album in the middle of a big change in our lives, with one foot in the past and the other in the future," says Hanna.

Marking 40 years since the song’s release, the message remains as pertinent as ever, with war in Europe and international tensions ever-present in the news. Since the artist behind the original is increasingly blowing hot air, it feels the perfect time to reclaim the song and Ponte Pilas have done so in style.

This is the title track taken from the upcoming album out April 28th via Gamlestans Grammofonbolag.

It was written during the first year of the Covid lockdown and lyricist Craig and Hanna were getting cabin fever being so isolated from work, friends and family. The song asks the question of how the isolation we experienced worldwide will affect us long-term and speaks of a longing for closeness, truth and a life without fear of others.
