Handsome fish, although I don't think I've ever come across such a large shoal. They are MONOGAMOUS so there are countless mating pairs here.

Very poisonous, VERY painful if you should brush against their pretty fronds which hide venomous spines, these LIONFISH, also called tigerfish, turkeyfish, scorpionfish, dragonfish are unusual in that they are a group of THREE, all interacting and 'surfing' down a sand bank ledge in a cave in the Red Sea.

This beautiful animal is a BIG, stingray, camouflaged in the Red Sea sand. As he swims away, you can see his lethal, venomous barb in his whip tail.
I have filmed lots of these, although this is one of the biggest. I purposely approached it at an angle, VERY cautiously, and ensured I didn't get above or in-line with it.
I am always consious of the demise of the late, great Steve Irwin who lost his life trying to film one of these beasts....

June, 2022, saw a remarkable and RARE occurance off the coastline of Kent along the Romney Marsh.
Bioluminescence occurs when chemical reactions within plankton produce light in response to the water being disturbed.
During hot spells of warm weather, waters are significantly warmer, giving the plankton the opportunity to ‘charge up’, and glow even brighter than normal.
The glow is from Bioluminescent plankton, tiny organisms, which sparkle when they are disturbed by waves or currents as a defence mechanism to draw predators towards the creatures trying to eat the plankton.
I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time, together with friends Kolyn Menace and Susan Pilcher.
The images produced here prompted a lengthly article in the British Wildlife Magazine.

Prospect Cottage is a house on the coast in Dungeness, Kent. Originally a Victorian fisherman's hut, the house was purchased by film director and artist Derek Jarman in 1987, and was his home until his death in 1994. Jarman bought the house following the death of his father, at a time when he was looking to leave London.
Jarman bought the former fisherman’s cottage in 1987 for £32,000, using money left to him by his father, after he spotted it while filming on the beach with Tilda Swinton.
After Jarman's death in 1994 from an AIDS related illness, the cottage was bequeathed to his partner Keith Collins. The house was put up for sale in 2018 after Collins' death, and with the possibility of the house being sold privately, Art Fund launched a campaign in January 2020 to raise money for "a permanently funded programme to conserve and maintain the building, its contents and its garden for the future". The fund raised a massive, £3.6m.
The poem on the black timber wall of Derek Jarman's cottage is from John Donne's poem The Sun Rising and reads:
