The Elsharq Centre aim to promote and strength role of women to participate effectively in engendering budget in two areas education and reproductive health in Kassala state. Since 2010 The Elsharq Centre (EC) has been engaged in initiatives for equitable distribution of public resource that tacks in consideration women needs. Collaborating with other CSOs, Kassala University, Ministry of Finance
, and Ministry of Social welfare. Elsharq Centre succeeded to lead a “ Fair Budget initiatives” program. The overall objective of the initiative is to contribute to promote human rights through strengthen the capabilities in areas of human rights based public budget, The initiative has been attempting to build capacity for budget tracking among local communities, targeting its capacity-building efforts , The first step , undertaken in Kassla and khartoum states , focused on awareness raising addressed the following areas of participatory budget, Budget monitoring , GRB, and combating corruption . In 2010- 2011, the series of workshops succeed to achieve, promoting the role of the CSOs in monitoring Sudan National Public Budget with a special focus on monitoring the public budget and adopting anti-corruption policy, More than two hundreds participants have been involve in the initiative, most of them from federal and states parliaments, journalist, lawyers, human rights activist and CSOs workers. In 2011 Elsharq Centre and others CSOs established a CSOs group for Fair budget, the members of this CSOs group is 20 CSOs, Including Universities and daily newspapers, those were already involved in workshop organized by Elsharq Centre 2010-2011 , the direct beneficiaries was 200 participants and indirect total number reach 800 audience through page and 2000 book/Manuals distributed copies. As consequences of this initiative the UN Women supported two trainers from the group to participate on Global High Level Meeting regarding “Increasing Accountability and Development Effectiveness through Gender Responsive Planning and Budgeting” in Kigali Rwanda .
