TIGNAN: OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio gets emotional as he tells the story behind the creation of Migrants’ Brew amidst the criticism that came with its establishment. He insists that the launching of Migrants’ Brew is one way to show solidarity with migrant workers and their families.

The creation of Migrants' Brew has been criticized by some for being insensitive to the needs of migrant workers, but OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio elucidates that the launching of Migrants' Brew is a means to provide assistance and care to these workers.

Philippine Embassy officials, led by Chargé d’Affaires Rommel Romato, received the Cebu Chooks (Chooks-to-Go basketball 3x3) team, which competed in the FIBA3x3World Tour Riyadh Masters 2022 from 11-12 November at the Formula E Track in Diriyah, Riyadh. Cebu Chooks is the highest-ranked Philippine 3x3 team in the world at 26th.

Represented by Cebu-native Mac Tallo, Fil-Canadian Brandon Ramirez, and two reinforcements in Cameroonian Mike Harry Nzeusseu and Marcus James Hammonds II, Cebu Chooks played against other 3x3 teams representing various cities. The team was joined by the high flying David Carlos who competed in the Slam Dunk competition.

The FIBA 3x3 World Tour is the most prestigious event in 3x3. The Riyadh tournament marks 2022’s 11th edition, which began with the Utsunomiya Opener held in May and culminates in the Abu Dhabi Final on 10-11 December.

Heads up to all our kababayans in Najran!

VFS Global, an authorized third-party service provider partner of the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), will be conducting its Passport of Wheels (PoW) Services in Najran on 18-19 November 2022.

Please note that VFS Global will only process REGULAR PASSPORT RENEWALS only. Thus, these passport services will not be available during the PoW:

1. Passports for newborns;
2. Passport validity extension;
3. Travel Document issuance; and
4. Lost/Damaged passport application.

In addition, visa services for foreigners going to the Philippines; legal documents processing (certifications, SPAs, affidavits, authentications, etc.); assistance-to-nationals services; labor services; social welfare services; and SSS services will not also be available during the PoW.

VFS Global will charge the following mandatory fees:

1. Passport renewal fee: SAR260.00 (SAR240.00 regular passport fee + SAR20.00 convenience fee [DFA-imposed fees]); and
2. Mobile Service Charges: SAR110.00 (VFS Global-imposed fee).

VFS Global may also charge potential clients additional non-mandatory convenience fees such as the following:

1. SMS – SAR8.00
2. Mobile Courier Services – SAR65.00
3. Form Filing Application – SAR17.00
4. Printing – SAR5.00
5. Photocopy – SAR2.50

Please also note, that availing themselves of VFS Global’s services is OPTIONAL. Our kababayans can always go directly to the offices of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah for passport renewals and all other services mentioned above during business hours.

The Philippine Embassy’s Economic Officer Vice Consul Von Ryan Ferrera and Agriculture Attaché Nolet Fulgencio met with officials of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA).

Opportunities and possible cooperation in facilitating trade in Halal goods and products as well as compliance with existing rules and regulations were discussed.
