AXJ EUROPEAN REPORTERS MEETING
When I was in Dubai, I visited the Lebanese Consulate in Dubai, and the thing I liked most about the consulate is that they painted a picture of the writer Gibran Khalil Gibran on the entire wall area inside the consulate.
And so we know
Who is Gibran?
Gibran Khalil Gibran 1883-1931
Poet, writer, philosopher, spiritualist, painter, visual artist, sculptor and poets of the diaspora. He was born in the town of Bcharre in northern Lebanon at the time of the Mount Lebanon Mutasarrifate. He grew up poor. His mother, Camilla, was thirty years old when she gave birth to him, and his father, Khalil, was her third husband. . Gibran did not receive formal education during his youth in the Mount Lebanon Mutasarrifate. He immigrated as a boy with his family to the United States of America, to study literature and begin his literary career, writing in Arabic and English. His style was characterized by romanticism and he is considered one of the symbols of the renaissance of modern Arabic literature, especially in prose poetry.
Gibran was a member of the PEN League in New York, then known for its diaspora poets, alongside Lebanese authors such as Al-Amin Al-Rihani, Mikhail Naima, and Elia Abu Madi. He is best known abroad for his 1923 book The Prophet, an early example of “inspired fiction” including a series of philosophical essays written in poetic prose in English, which sold well despite a critical and critical reception. Also known as the best-selling poet after Shakespeare and Laozi, The Book of the Prophet has been translated into up to 110 languages, including Chinese.
Gibran Khalil Gibran died in New York on April 10, 1931, at the age of 48; Due to tuberculosis and cirrhosis of the liver, Gibran wished to be buried in Lebanon, and his wish was fulfilled in 1932, when his remains were transferred there and buried there in what is now known as the “Gibran Museum.”
