Material: Silver, Brass, Sardinian Red Coral, Vintage Moroccan Amber, Turkish Glass Bead
Technique: Wax Craving, Patina Polished

The eye of the Nakba necklace is inspired by the historic event of catastrophic ethnic cleansing of Palestinians through their violent displacement and dispossession of land and property along with the destruction of their society and the suppression of their culture, identity, political rights, and national aspirations. The jewelry work reflects the ongoing Gaza war and expresses the pain, anger, and distress of the people who witnessed the violence, oppression, and suffering.

"Cred că mă încadrez în acel tip de persoană care definește luxul din perspectiva timpului de calitate pe care ți-l aloci ție, familiei sau celor foarte dragi și apropiați. Consider că a avea astăzi liniște și plăcerea de a te putea ocupa de ceea ce sufletul și inima ta cer este un lux în adevăratul sens al cuvântului. Este esențial să pot face ceea ce îmi place, să fiu acolo unde vreau eu, nu unde altcineva decide pentru mine. Consider că e nevoie de o schimbare de perspectivă, iar ideea de lux trebuie scoasă din zona materialistă și dusă într-o zonă de experiență, de bucurie vie, de plăcere și de autenticitate. Din această perspectivă a autenticității și a creației, consider că exact în acest domeniu al bijuteriei, cea de autor este luxul suprem. Și spun asta pentru că este o investiție în artă, însă un tip de artă care este mereu în contact cu tine, cu corpul tău. Ea este un talisman și un punct de plecare a unor conversații surprinzătoare."

Jewelry on display weekendul acesta, pe 1 și 2 iunie, la CIRCUIT: Design și Sustenabilitate X RDW Design GO! Colecția Seeds de Carla Szabo, va fi disponibilă în cadrul târgului din Piața Amzei, de la Education Point (Piața Amzei 7-15).

Evenimentul face parte din programul Romanian Design Week 2024, RDW Design GO!.

Mă fascinează semințele și mă întreb, cm de încape uriașul stejar în această fărâmă de viață în așteptare? Doar de o picătură de apă e nevoie ca minunea vieții să se descătușeze cu întreaga forță a lumii create. Așa cm semințele așteaptă ploaia să le dea o șansă, așa și eu am așteptat să aduc la viață această colecție de bijuterii. Am reușit acest lucru cu ajutorul artistului Dan Munteanu, care a sculptat cu pricepere semințele, ce apoi au devenit broșe și coliere. - Carla Szabo, despre colecția Seeds

Incredible mood at the welcoming cocktail party for the 21st edition of AUTOR. From the cosmopolite atmosphere with designers from all around the world, to the delightful conversations, every moment was a testament to the talent and passion that drives this creative industry.

Special thanks to Muzeul Naţional al Literaturii Române for the location and Le Mat wines for the sparkling alcohol-free touch of the evening.

ESHTE Award at AUTOR 2024 ➜ Daniela Cățoi, Bucharest

A special prize for this awards edition of the fair, given to a Romanian artist who will create a collection together with ESHTE. The space for Romanian talent created by ESHTE, at 15 Doamnei Street, will host both the collaboration launch event and the pieces from the collection, which will be available for purchase in the coolest 100% Romanian concept store. This is another step in ESHTE’s mission to discover, support and promote Romanian talent, by supporting up-and-coming creators and implementing their ideas.
