Some friends, readers, fans, have asked us about when the 24th issue of Xerophilia will be online. Now I hope it will be soon...
Like a preview, I want to share with you the Editorial I have written in March:
"We are now in the seventh year since we started publishing Xerophilia. Its history may seem short, but when it comes to the speed of the online world, we can say that we have shown a certain steadiness compared to other stars that have dawned, shone, but have also rushed into twilight in the meantime. Do not wonder that I’m talking about the past! Since our last two or three issues, completing the summary became quite a challenge, if not a fight, and keeping to the editorial plan, almost an impossibility. Yes, of course, there are promises. Yes, of course, our long time collaborators remain equally benevolent. Yes, of course, the new collaborators are more kind and joyous than ever ... but there is an incredible distance between a promised article and published material. Therefore, exactly one year ago, I was wondering how to reschedule the articles planned for the end-of-year number. They seemed to be too many!
Now, at the end, I’m going to laugh: as far as they were supposed to be, in the end, “December issue” appeared at the beginning of February this year with a scarce number of pages. And now, the current number is suffering from the same disease. Today, when I am writing the editorial, I only know Xerophilia will appear sometime in an unknown future... Of course, delays are not a tragedy. Of course, as we expect to offer something to read, readers can expect to wait a bit until we gather all the material needed for a magazine. Of course, as one of our friends said, we should not be bothered by a delay of only one month, when other magazines are late now and again ... even a year! It is possible to be so and I am not contesting this, but for me, a publication that cannot respect its self-imposed deadlines is just the fantasy of some who want to be in the job. Will it be raining tomorrow? We do not know, but there is a chance for Xerophilia to appear! ... Seriously ...?
Dear readers, as Editor, I promise you that we will do everything in our power to continue. However, also as Editor, I underline that we will not turn a quarterly magazine, which for six years has emerged with minor deviations from a fixed publication date, in a magazine that appears as fluctuations of the unpredictable interpretations of Nostradamus quatrains.
Honestly, we want from our heart to continue. We have two special issues in preparation. We have many promises and even some good materials for the future. But we no longer have the certainty of tomorrow, as we had before. And if the next issue is an abortion, or born too late and too deformed, it will be the last. So, will Xerophilia become a falling star ...? Possible.
It depends only on those who want and can submit articles."
