Irie Daily is a dedicated vinyl collector and dub selector with deep roots in sound system culture. His journey began in 2005, building a record collection that quickly led him to his first dance in Istanbul the following year. In 2007, after relocating to Belgium, he joined Ionyouth Soundsystem as an apprentice, becoming a core member between 2008 and 2014. During this time, he played at festivals such as Reggae Geel and Irie Vibes, opening for legends like Jah Shaka, Aba Shanti-I, and Jah Tubby’s World System. With a passion for heavy basslines and conscious vibrations, Irie Daily sets the tone for an authentic roots and culture experience.

Pia Ionescu welcomes Lara Ionescu to today’s episode of CineYap.

Lara has written for various publications in the UK, Italy and Romania. In 2015 she made her first short film, an independent dance film, entitled “Tonight”, which was screened at various dance film festivals in the USA and Romania. She wrote and directed her second short “The King’s Cup” (2017) about a young journalist investigating on a Romani football team, led by no other than the King of the Romani people.

She made her third short film “Our Summer Break” (2023), in which she touched on the mother-daughter relationship, explored through a fiction story mixed with personal archival footage. The film won Best Short Film at TIFF 2023 and was further selected in other international festivals.

Lara is currently developing her debut feature film. In her work, she likes to play with blurring the fine line between fiction and reality.

We're live for another In Focus, this time with Ștefan Panea, who is playing a selection of ambient records from his collection.

Ștefan Panea is a live sound engineer and sound designer, known mostly Bucharest's Control Club. As a musician, he releases solo ambient albums and is also part of Environments (drone/experimental trio), where he plays guitar and keys. Other musical endeavors include electronic games music and film/installations sound design.
