StaticVFX Studio presents “Feather and Prowl” – our in-house full CG short film, set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, directed by Max Ţucudean .

Prepare to be transported to a desolate and time-forgotten place, where the remnants of civilization collide with the harsh realities of survival.

“Feather and Prowl” is not just a simple in-house short film for us. Our artists wanted to explore new roles in film-making, so this is how Max, our animator and compositor, took on this challenge and became the director of this animation. The whole team supported and helped him in his new adventure, while Max discovered what it is like to bring your story and vision to life.

Congratulations and many thanks to each and every member of the team! Get ready for the next ones 🙃

Join us in welcoming Stefano Carta to VFX Hangout 5 - Togetherness!  With a decade of experience in the industry, Stefano brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in 3D character modelling to our event.
 

Stefano is a 3D character modeller with 10 years of experience working in feature films and TV series. After graduating in Computer Science he started focusing his studies in 3D Graphics, enrolling in the masterclass in Computer Animation at BigRock School, in Italy.
 
At the end of the master, he was selected for an internship at the school, to further develop his skills and put them in practice. His professional career began a little after that in the UK, where he joined MPC in London, working as a modelling and texture artist for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. While at MPC, Stefano gradually specialized on character and facial modelling, through shows such as The Jungle Book, The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Terminator Genisys, where he worked on high-end digital creatures and humans.
 
His work on digital characters led him to a nomination at the VES Awards, for re-creating a young Rachel in the movie Blade Runner 2049.
 
 Stefano continued his path in DNEG London, where he collaborated with the modelling team on movies such as Venom, the Fast and Furious franchise, and The Matrix Resurrections.
 
 
 
Looking for a break from rainy London, he moved to rainy Vancouver, where he currently works as a lead character modeller in DNEG.

Let’s shine the spotlight on Iulia Burcă, a talented Romanian 3D Rigger who beautifully merges art with programming in her day-to-day work. 
 
 
After graduating with first-class honors from Bournemouth University, Iulia kicked off her professional journey at DNEG London, contributing to blockbuster movies like “Tenet” and “Fast and Furious”.
 
Transitioning to Blue Zoo Animation Studio, she delved into the world of feature animation films and series, where she mastered the art of rigging for a whole new genre.  This shift allowed her to explore the versatility of her field and delve into scripting languages, enhancing her ability to craft complex cartoony rigs and tools. 

Iulia’s portfolio boasts of award-winning shows like “The Adventures of Paddington Bear”, “Pip and Posy”, and “The Smeds and the Smoos”. Currently based in Vancouver, Canada, she’s an invaluable member of the rigging team at Image Engine, lending her expertise to projects like Netflix’s “Avatar the Last Airbender”, “Halo”, and exciting upcoming releases like “Kraven the Hunter”, “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”, and “The 3 Body Problem”.

When she’s not busy bringing digital creatures to life, Iulia enjoys spending quality time with her beloved dog, Roxy. 🐾

Meet Tony Lyons, a Lead Compositor at Trixter in Munich, Germany, with over 14 years of VFX experience!

Tony’s journey has taken him around the world through esteemed studios like Luma Pictures, Ingenuity Studio, Framestore Los Angeles, MPC Vancouver, DNEG London, ILM Singapore, and Iloura/Method Studios in Sydney, Australia.

Tony is the brilliant mind behind the Compositing Mentor blog and YouTube Channel, renowned for his Advanced Keying and CG compositing tutorials. He’s also the creator of the Nuke Survival Toolkit, providing a curated menu of essential Nuke tools for artists.

He’s a seasoned presenter, having shared insights at FMX Stuttgart in 2022 on Trixter’s work on Shang Chi and participated in multiple live webinars/talks on the Foundry’s channel. Tony is also the co-host of the podcast series VFX Nomads and the Creator and Admin of the Foundry Nuke Compositors LinkedIn Group.

Join us in welcoming the brilliant Alina Chiș to the VFX Hangout 5 - Togetherness! 💛
 
With a great drive for filmmaking and VFX, Alina’s journey is nothing short of inspiring.

After completing her BA in Media/Communication and Film in the UK, she ventured abroad for a placement year in Australia, contributing to projects like “Fade,” a captivating 16mm short. Fuelled by her passion, Alina pursued her dream of becoming a VFX artist, earning a master’s degree in Digital Effects from Bournemouth University. Her graduation VFX film “Accessing Portals” received numerous nominations at prestigious film festivals, setting the stage for her remarkable career.
 
Shortly after, she started into the industry as a VFX coordinator at Framestore London, in the film division, and soon became a VFX Line Producer at the same award-winning visual effects house.
 
Alina’s expertise has graced projects ranging from feature films like “Beast” (2022) to TV series such as “The Wheel of Time” (2023) and other amazing projects. Let’s dive into her world of visual storytelling and be inspired!

Brenda Ximena Roldan Romero is a distinguished 3D animator, known for her creative prowess and contributions to the animation industry. Graduating with honors from Bournemouth University, Brenda has left her mark on projects like “Prehistoric Planet” and “Rescue Rangers,” along with many exciting NDA ventures.  With experience at Blue Zoo Animation, MPC, Axis, and currently at Jellyfish Pictures, Brenda’s career spans TV, film, VFX, and feature animation styles.

Beyond her professional success, Brenda serves as Vice-Chair of London ACM SIGGRAPH and shares her expertise as a part-time animation lecturer at Bournemouth University.  A sought-after speaker, she has graced various institutions and animation festivals with her talks and masterclasses.

Brenda passionately believes in the power of storytelling, emphasizing the duty of filmmakers to create narratives that resonate and provoke reflection. Her commitment to crafting stories with heart underscores her influence in the animation industry, making Brenda Ximena Roldan Romero a true trailblazer in her field.

VFX enthusiasts, join us for a day filled with inspiration, connection, and the warm embrace of our incredible community at the 5th edition of the VFX Hangout, themed “Togetherness”.

In a year where the challenges felt insurmountable and the road ahead seemed uncertain, the theme of “Togetherness” takes on profound significance. As VFX professionals, we’ve weathered storms together, supported each other through thick and thin, and emerged stronger, more resilient than ever before.

This hangout isn’t just about sharing technical expertise or discussing industry trends (though we’ll certainly do plenty of that!). It’s about celebrating the human side of our craft—the bonds we’ve forged, the friendships we’ve nurtured, and the collective spirit that fuels our passion for storytelling through visuals.

⏰ 11:00 AM: Kickstart your day with a delightful breakfast spread and a steaming cup of coffee, the perfect fuel for a day of creativity and collaboration.

⏰ 12:00 PM: Dive into a series of captivating talks and presentations led by experienced artists from renowned studios. Gain valuable insights and be inspired by their stories of resilience and innovation.

The location is at the Static VFX Studio on Str. Parângului, 76, Bucharest.
