Story behind the event:
Culture Shock was originally intended to give a platform to APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi-American) artistry. There was an acknowledgement at the time that students of color attending the university often undergo culture shock due to the university being predominantly white. It gives students of color another outlet to feel embraced for who they are on a predominantly white campus. Culture Shock is used to highlight talents for students of color on the CU Boulder campus to express their cultures, heritages, and talents.
This Event is open to both students and the public, attracting students and families within the community, Culture Shock brings an assortment of performances, including traditional dances, student acts, and guest performers. We are aiming to reach other communities of color and their cultures and overall be more inclusive as well.
※We are planning on holding the event in person while following CDC guidelines and Boulder’s mask policies. We will be requiring those watching the show to wear masks at all times, unless they're eating or drinking.
