Inspired by a sense of patriotism, a group of good citizens of this generous land decided in 1978 to establish the Gulf Publishing & Printing Company. That decision proved to be a turning-point in the literary life of Qatar, leading to the creation of two great newspapers. The Company and its publications are a practical expression of the hopes and aspirations, values and principles of our country and its culture, which are deeply rooted in the Gulf and Arab world.

Dozens of Palestinians were killed or injured in an Israeli strike on a multi-storey residential building housing at least six families in northern Gaza's Beit Lahiya town on Sunday, medics and residents said.
Gaza's civil defence said 26 people were killed on Sunday, including children, and at least 59 were missing after an Israeli air strike hit a building in the Palestinian territory's north. The Gaza government media office put the number of those killed at 72.

Ben & Jerry's sues Unilever for silencing it over Gaza stance

Caption : Renown Ice cream brand Ben & Jerry’s has launched legal action against Unilever, accusing its parent company of trying to block the ice-cream brand from making public statements supporting Palestinian refugees in the conflict in Gaza.

The lawsuit also claims that Unilever has threatened to dismantle its board and sue directors over the issue.

Ben & Jerry’s, which has previously clashed with its parent company when it said it would stop selling its products in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, said Unilever has breached the terms of a confidential settlement agreed in 2022.

Ben & Jerry’s said in the lawsuit that it has tried to call for a ceasefire but “Unilever has silenced each of these efforts,” Ben & Jerry’s said.

Netflix is facing backlash for casting Israeli actors in lead roles for Mary, a biblical film reimagining the story of Jesus’ mother. Set to premiere on December 6, the film stars Israeli actress Noa Cohen as Mary, alongside other Israeli actors, prompting criticism for erasing the characters’ Palestinian roots. Social media users have called for a boycott, citing the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict and alleged insensitivity. (Director DJ Caruso described Mary as a “coming of age” story and defended casting Israeli actors to “ensure authenticity.”) Last month, Netflix denied anti-Palestinian bias after removing a library of Palestinian films, stating the titles expired due to a three-year licensing agreement.
