It all began 4 years ago just with free filmmaking workshops for a small community in the rural city of Paraguarí, which is located 60 km away of Asunción, the capital of Paraguay. Rodrigo Alvarenga, founder and research director is a longboarder that was looking for the best place in the country to skate fast and safe without discrimination. In Paraguay, skateboarding still is a tabu. After being
involved with the community in a grass roots level, he discovered the potential of the youth, the natural resources and the power of effective storytelling. Then he began to organise international downhill championships in the city, with support of volunteers and a great team, hosting more than 300 outsiders every year. In 2014 Brandi Handy launch as a distributor the first extreme sports full lenght documentary in Paraguay, "Paraguarí Downhill" was the best way to positioning the city for an important ans massive audience, the youth. Now, Paraguarí is considered the paraguayan capital of extreme and outdoor sports, bringing opportunities to people and making them able to work with nature in a sustainable way, develop new business based in hospitallity and tourism. And of course, there are 100 new boys and girls skating, enjoyng and dreaming. We are still learning english and is a great adventure!
