It accepts submissions of first-rate articles and discussion notes on all aspects of analytical philosophy (broadly construed), written either in English or Portuguese. Articles of a purely exegetical or historical nature are not considered. Founded in 1996, Disputatio was published by the Portuguese Philosophy Society until 2002. From 2002, it is published by the Philosophy Centre of the Universi
ty of Lisbon. Disputatio is a non-profit publishing venture. From 2013, Disputatio is published only online, as an open access journal. Disputatio consists of an editorial committee, an editorial board and an advisory board. The editorial committee has the overall scientific responsibility of editing the journal. Its members take final decisions on the acceptance or rejection of submitted material, after considering reports by referees. The editor and co-editor of Disputatio are nominated by the editorial committee

It is presently classified in category INT2 (previously B) of the ERIH ranking of the European Science Foundation, and it is classified B in the Australian Association of Philosophy and the Australian Research Council ranking.
