Diogo Laranjeira is the name behind Funkey Monkey, a youthful Dj based in Lisbon, Portugal. Diogo has always loved music, finding his roots in Rock and Pop Rock, he has expressed that love by learning how to play guitar on his teenage years. Some years later in 2017, as he moved to the capital and listened to Psytrance for the first time, he has had an experience that he will never forget. Since t

hen he has found a deep connection with the groove and abstract timbres of Psytrance. His journey as an artist started soon after in 2018, as he was curious on how these psychedelic timbres and tonalities were achieved, so he got into some basic music production and later found a passion for Djing. By the end of 2018 he had released his first Dj-Set and in a year moved from playing in clubs to, alternative stages at outdoor parties and finally at Crystal Matrix's main stage of Trance Odyssey 2019/20 New Years Eve party. Diogo Laranjeira é o nome que deu origem a Funkey Monkey, um jovem Dj radicado em Lisboa, Portugal. O Diogo sempre amou música, encontrando as suas raízes no Rock e no Pop Rock, manifestou esse amor aprendendo a tocar guitarra na adolescência, e alguns anos mais tarde, em 2017, ao mudar-se para a capital teve a oportunidade de ouvir Psytrance pela primeira vez, uma experiência que jamais irá esquecer. Desde então que encontrou uma profunda conexão com o groove e os timbres abstratos do Psytrance. A sua jornada como artista começou em 2018, pois estava curioso em aprender como criar os timbres e texturas psicadélicas do psytrance, foi então que começou a aprender alguns conceitos básicos de produção de música eletrónica e pouco tempo depois descubriu a sua paixão por Djing. Foi no final de 2018 que lançou o seu primeiro Dj-Set e em apenas um ano passou de tocar em clubes para palcos alternativos em festas ao ar livre, e finalmente, no palco principal da Trance Odyssey 2019/20, festa de ano novo da Crystal Matrix. I’m most likely “spinning” PsyTrance, Psychedelic or Progressive Psy on the Track Decks, but I also enjoy other subgenres of psychedelic music like Full-On, Goa, Minimal Psy and Downtempo Psy.
