📢European Web Survey on Drugs 2024: Key findings out today!

🔷Over 66 000 respondents participated across 31 countries
🔷Cannabis reported as the drug most frequently used
🔷Polysubstance use was widespread
🔷Most drug use occurred at home (except for M**A and co***ne)
🔷Most commonly reported reasons for using drugs: to get high/for fun, to relax and to stay awake

Today, we celebrate Data Protection Day, a reminder of the importance of safeguarding personal data in our daily work. At the EUDA, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of data protection.

🛡️ Why does this matter to us?

As our Data protection officer, Gonçalo Felgueiras e Sousa, explains: 'In Europe, the protection of personal data is a fundamental right of the citizens, enshrined in the EU Treaties and in the European Charter of Fundamental Rights. We, as the EUDA, are entrusted with processing other individuals’ personal data, which we must do in a lawful, fair and transparent way'.

This means:

🟢 Collecting only the data we need

🟢 Using it for a legitimate purpose and just for the time we need

🟢 Keeping that data secure and preventing unauthorised access or disclosure

🟢 Ensuring that people can exercise their rights, such as access, rectification and deletion

We will continue to protect and respect your personal data, ensuring a safer and more transparent environment for all. 🌍🔒

Our new Scientific Committee wrapped up its first meeting in Lisbon today, with Marieke Liem elected as Chairperson and Fernando Rodríguez de Fonseca as Deputy Chairperson. Congratulations! 🎉

🗣️ Commenting on the meeting, EUDA Executive Director Alexis Goosdeel said: 'Today's inaugural meeting lays the foundations for rigorous scientific analysis and advice, reinforcing EUDA’s commitment to independent, evidence-based decision-making. I look forward to the Committee’s valuable contributions in supporting the agency’s new mission'.
