Meet your Webinar Speakers:

Hadeer S. Dahab, a Nubian community architect and cultural heritage specialist. With an M.A. in Cultural Heritage Management from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and an M.Sc. in Architecture and Urban Design from Cairo University, Dahab is a university instructor and a consultant for UNESCO, the British Museum, and other institutions.

During her 10 years work as an urban researcher and a heritage education coordinator at Megawra | BEC, Dahab was a 2022 Real City Challenge Award finalist with her regional project "Makanuna al-Khalifa”.

In 2023, Dahab founded "Makanuna" (our place); a youth-led placemaking initiative implemented 50+ community-driven projects across 15 Egyptian neighborhoods in just its first year, engaging over 1,200 young people to actively shape the future of their cities while honoring their cultural heritage.

Dahab is Egypt's first community architect in the U.S. IVLP "Sustainable Cities" program and recognized by "Celebrate Your Local Jane Jacobs" initiative 2024.

In 2023, Dahab led the 2023 UIA Golden Cubes Award-winning "Al-Khalifa Urban Dreams" film series in the audio-visual media category of the awards.

For the seminar, Dahab’s presentation will exhibit how she harnesses the power of architecture, heritage, and youth engagement to transform cultural heritage into a catalyst for social impact and creative entrepreneurship.

I just returned from Sinai, Egypt. I’ve been working as partner in the Storytelling For All: Empowering Bedouin Women and Men through Film and Craft Impact and Engagement project. What a challenge.
Every time I feel like I’m out of my comfort zone, I embrace the opportunity to get the best of it, professional and personal wise. I always comeback with a wider perspective on life. The world is much wider than our own belly. So many different realities from the ones we’re used to see, different codes and references, different ways of being in life…
Thank you to all the amazing people with who I worked with in such an overwhelming landscape. And thank you to my friends and colleagues Jessica Jacobs, Emily O'Maral and Andrea Morreau

On the 22nd of January I had the opportunity to teach a 3 hours Masterclass - The Transformative Power of Cinema in Communities, to students from FLAG a training institution specializing in technologies associated with the development of arts/visual and interactive media, in the areas of print, web and motion.
Leaving your comfort zone and facing challenges is always stimulating, and this training was no exception. And it actually went well.
Let new challenges come.
