I just returned from Sinai, Egypt. I’ve been working as partner in the Storytelling For All: Empowering Bedouin Women and Men through Film and Craft Impact and Engagement project. What a challenge.
Every time I feel like I’m out of my comfort zone, I embrace the opportunity to get the best of it, professional and personal wise. I always comeback with a wider perspective on life. The world is much wider than our own belly. So many different realities from the ones we’re used to see, different codes and references, different ways of being in life…
Thank you to all the amazing people with who I worked with in such an overwhelming landscape. And thank you to my friends and colleagues Jessica Jacobs, Emily O'Maral and Andrea Morreau

On the 22nd of January I had the opportunity to teach a 3 hours Masterclass - The Transformative Power of Cinema in Communities, to students from FLAG a training institution specializing in technologies associated with the development of arts/visual and interactive media, in the areas of print, web and motion.
Leaving your comfort zone and facing challenges is always stimulating, and this training was no exception. And it actually went well.
Let new challenges come.

Saying Cinema it’s my professional activity, it's reductive, because it’s much, much more than that. It’s kind of an old passion. Since I remember, I love to seat in a dark room watching a film, at the same time as others (alone but part of the group at the same time). Also, I must say, it’s a pleasure of mine (my geek side) to discover movie theaters and attend to its sessions. So I did it again, and today was even more special, a great companion, a beautiful room, a comfortable sofa, a Prosecco wine, and last but not least the film Dream Scenario, with Nicholas Cage,as protagonist, has made this evening an extraordinary experience.

It was an adventure to made part of Storytelling For All: Empowering Bedouin Women and Men through Film and Craft Impact and Engagement (the 1st of 2 parts). Getting in touch with the local reality, knowing the amazing people with who we’re working with, adding on top the weather and the landscape, made this a project full of new possibilities to embrace and paths to discover.

Here’s a photo of the International Project I was involved in as a tutor in the Philippines.

‘Building an Idea’ - It was film made by Project HELPER founders Leny D. Obra and Michael Loc, in June 2023, after receiving filming training from Dr Jessica Jacobs and Vitor Hugo Costa as part of Dr Jessica Jacobs’ research project ‘The Peoples Stories: Assessing the Replicability of Place-Based Filmmaking as a Participatory Research Tool for Global Development’.
This project was carried out in partnership with Film Geographies, MetafilmesMetafilmes (Portugal), University of the Philippines Diliman and Megawra (Built Environment Collective) (Egypt).

Funded by a participatory research grant from the Centre for Public Engagement - Queen Mary University of London .
