Another Job at ROCKS NOT DEAD Studio. Magic mountain baby...Magic Mountain 🖤
An Interview with Rui Vieira De Sousa of THE FEATS hard\heavy rock band from Portugal!
Why The Feats? ... And the logo is also different. Tell us a little bit about it too.
It all started at a time when I was doing instrumental themes and music for myself, without thinking about styles, nor anything to do with the fkn commercial purposes whatever. I later found that there was room for voice, but I didn’t want to confine myself to a vocalist. Talking to friends, they liked the idea and we started recording voices in the themes that were already done. And the results started to appear and it sounds fantastic!! So, since the songs were mine and I gave the interpreter the freedom to write lyrics, always in accordance with the theme of the song, and its interpretation, partnerships arose, therefore Featurings, featuring A, B, C.... As there were several came the idea of The Feats. Several "Featurings".The logo idea came to me because they were the only commands I used to record voices. The rest was already done. Also because it leads people to click instinctively and nothing happens. The lettering, graphics and design was in charge of João Castro.
How was the beginning of this band project with this lineup?
I’ve been in several bands and often there were problems of all genres and shapes, all kind of sh*ts and fkn discussions, inherent to any band ok, but I was tired. At the time I did not want to f**k my brain with stupid f**ks So I played what I wanted, how I wanted, when I wanted, in my studio. Rock’s Not Dead Studio, and as I mentioned the songs were for me to hear.
When have you thought that your music could be carried forward and when you realized that music could become more than a hobby, and become a message of comfort.?
There is still a lot of stigma in relation to mental illnesses. If this was the case before with the pandemic, the mentally ill are completely forgotten. In Portugal I know it is like this, from my own experience. No follow-up, no therapies, quality of life. This has to be a continued care. Hundreds of new cases are appearing. There are a lot of insensitivity and ignorance, but we were talking about it for a whole day and it wasn’t enough. The culprits are the usual ones. But basically, in the songs are explicit the horrible feelings that mental patients go through. It’s horrible. At the same time it’s a Warning. And for themselves to see that they are not alone in this nightmare. And that comforts.
Which musical tracks influenced you and shaped your music?
All and none. A mixture of Mötley Crüe with some secluded tribe
If you could set your pace in a nutshell, what would it be?
Cyclothymia and mixed episodes of humor.
Can we expect new content and album for this year?
Songs yes, punctually and without any kind of commitment. I am currently working on a song, this time is a female voice. The topic will be the most widely understood pathogens.
