House in Cacela Velha / GSS arquitectos: The house is located in the Algarve, south of Portugal, in the historic village of Cacela Velha. It is a rehabilitation project for an old house from the beginning of the 20th century. Over the years it has undergone several changes. Initially, it was a small house for a farmer with the respective agricultural warehouses. Later a 2nd floor was expanded and has remained until today.

Arcostraße Housing Complex / blrm Architekt*innen: The urban ensemble on Arcostraße incorporates elements from the regulations of the Berlin block and adapts them to our present time. While the front buildings along the street resume as a continuous row, in the inner area of the property, five individual buildings are staggered and form the rear buildings. In comparison to the Berlin buildings that shaped the cityscape at the end of the 19th century, the side wings are replaced by walkways that serve as access to the apartments. This creates a cohesive ensemble with a high degree of permeability.

Kunlé Adeyemi's Water Cities Rotterdam Exhibition: A Testing Ground for Water-Related Design Solutions: Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam has inaugurated the ‘Water Cities Rotterdam. By Kunlé Adeyemi,’ a cultural project comprising of exhibitions along with several floating pontoons and artist installations that present the Nigerian-Dutch architect Kunlé Adeyemi’s waterfront designs in the Netherlands. The exhibition brings a seven-meter-high floating wooden pavilion on the institute’s outdoor ponds. Inside the pavilion, landscape architect and artist Thijs de Zeeuw has created an artwork to allow visitors to experience the pavilion from the perspective of nature while contemplating the consequences of building and living on the water for the surrounding ecology and biodiversity. The entire exhibition is on display at the Nieuwe Instituut until 22 October 2023.

Sauerbruch Hutton Wins Competition for HQ2 in Munich's Haidenauplatz Quarter: Sauerbruch Hutton has won the competition for Headquarters 2 (HQ2) for the Haidenauplatz Quarter in Munich. This high-rise building will be the focal point of the newly developing Haidenauplatz district in Eastern Munich. Serving as HypoVereinsbank's second central location, it will stand alongside the iconic Hypo high-rise from the 1970s in the neighboring Bogenhausen district. The design by Sauerbruch Hutton and landscape architect MDP Michel Desvigne Paysagiste was chosen from a pool of nine other international participants.

Memorial by Eduardo Souto de Moura for the Victims of the Fire in Portugal Is Inaugurated: Pedrógão Grande, a Portuguese municipality located approximately 55 kilometers from Coimbra, inaugurated the Memorial in Homage to the Victims of the 2017 Forest Fires last week. This tragic event resulted in the loss of 66 lives and left 253 injured. The monument was designed by architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, winner of the 2011 Pritzker Prize.

Hidden Garden House / Sam Crawford Architects: Our client’s brief was to alter their house to provide them with light and warm spaces, passively heated and cooled. They wanted quality over quantity, improved functionality, and low maintenance. The original house was built in the 1980s and then extended in the late 1990s. It required radical surgery. Public Toilet in Shenzhen Bay Haifeng Sports Square / CCDI GROUP 21 Design Studio: Project Overview - The circular city observation platform facing the sea is located in the coastal center of Nanshan District, Shenzhen. It is adjacent to the coastal activity lawn in the south, the public parking lot in the north, the intelligent fitness area for citizens in the east, and the landscape tree array and hard ground square in the west. It is set off in the coastal landscape belt of Shenzhen Bay Park about 13 kilometers long, with convenient transportation and a good coastal landscape. As a public building demolished and rebuilt at the original site, its basic functions include public toilets and shower rooms that are open to tourists in the park all day long. The Timber Hat Building / rundzwei Architekten: Company headquarters and operating facility in timber construction - In an ordinary industrial park south of Stuttgart, rundzwei Architekten BDA have designed an unusual headquarters and operating facility in timber construction. The translucent, all-round canopy made of carbonized larch wood - the eponymous "wooden hat" - protects against the weather and gives the building its characteristic shape. "When a long-established family business builds anew, things don't always have to stay the same." (Architect Marc Dufour-Feronce) Hald & Grunewald specializes in the sale and rental of forklifts, telescopic handlers, work platforms, and container solutions. Training, maintenance, and repairs are also part of the offer. Around 90 employees work at the new main location in Ergenzingen, between Schönbuch, the northern Black Forest, and the Swabian Alb. The aim of the project was to bundle all the company's functions in one location. At the beginning of the project, the architects analyzed and optimized the existing workflows together with the employees. The aim was to "rethink" the long-established family business, to question old structures, and to create a contemporary commercial building with optimal workflows and quality of space for all user groups.
