April 2024 Concept Note
Palestinian Voices of the Diaspora
This Week in Palestine is an English-language monthly, thematic, print and online magazine with a self-imposed mandate to promote and document Palestine. The first issue of the magazine was published in December 1998, and the periodical has not missed a single issue since. Turbo Design, the company that publishes This Week in Palestine, operates from the city of Ramallah in Palestine.

In the wake of the war on Gaza, Palestine has essentially become a household name worldwide. Judging by the huge number of interactions on all social media platforms, in addition to the massive demonstrations of people who are crying out for justice in Palestine, Palestine has never attracted so much international attention. We believe that seeking justice is the primary reason for this surge in the interest in Palestine. One report stated that the ratio of pro-Palestinian posts to pro-Israeli posts on social media is 50 to 1.
Fortunately, the interest in Palestine has resulted in a shift in world public opinion in favor of Palestine. How many times have we watched videos in which people, particularly the young, say that they didn’t know anything about the situation in Palestine before the war on Gaza started, but after reading about it, they started to support Palestine. Permit me to say that This Week in Palestine (TWiP) is one source that provides (an enormous amount of) content on Palestine.
In the April 2024 issue of TWiP, themed “Palestinian Voices of the Diaspora,” we would like to document some of what the Palestinians living abroad have been doing during the past five months to advocate for justice in Palestine, to raise awareness, and to spread the truth about the situation. It is both an acknowledgment of their efforts as well as a message of solidarity with the people of Gaza. However, some of those who have cried out for justice have been the target of prejudice by local authorities, in the mainstreak media, and in their workplaces. We would like to expose this prejudice and make known their experiences.
We invite you to share your voice and your experience.
The late Professor Edward Said once said, “Keep talking about Palestine.” This is what we do.
Long Live Palestine!
