434 يومًا على الإبادة التي يتعرض لها قطاع غزة، وما زالت الحرب مستمرة بلا هوادة. أكثر من 200,000 وحدة سكنية دُمّرت تمامًا، تاركة خلفها مئات الآلاف من العائلات مشردة بلا مأوى، في مشهد يفوق الوصف ويجسد معاناة إنسانية لا حدود لها.
غزة تُستنزف يومًا بعد يوم، والعالم لا زال صامتاً.

434 days have passed since the genocide in Gaza began, and the war continues relentlessly. Over 200,000 housing units have been completely destroyed, leaving hundreds of thousands of families homeless, with no shelter to turn to.

The scenes of destruction defy description, reflecting an unparalleled humanitarian tragedy. Gaza is being drained day by day, while the world remains silent.

من الصعب أن نعيش في ذكراك وأنت لا تزال حياً في قلوبنا، حضورك الدافئ وروحك المشرقة لم تفارقا نفوسنا يوماً.

في مثل هذا اليوم، فقدنا زميلاً وأخاً غالياً، رشدي، الذي كان بنقاء قلبه وإبداعه يضيء أيامنا، وكان دائماً قائد النجاح والطموح.

غيابه ترك فينا ألماً عميقاً وفراغاً لا يُسد، لكن ذكراه ستظل خالدة فينا، تشهد على إنسانيته الرفيعة، وعطاءه الذي لا يعرف نهاية، وأخلاقه التي كانت دائماً نبراساً لنا.

رشدي، أرشدتنا للطريق… فلن نضل بعدك، أنت بوصلتنا.

It is difficult to live in your memory while you are still alive in our hearts. Your warm presence and radiant spirit have never truly left us.

On this day, we lost a dear colleague and brother, Roshdi, whose pure heart and creativity brightened our days. He was always a leader of success and ambition.

His absence has left us with profound pain and an irreplaceable void, but his memory will remain eternal within us, a testament to his noble humanity, boundless generosity, and the exemplary morals that always guided us.

Roshdi, you showed us the way… and we will not lose our path after you. You are our compass.

This year’s awardees have withstood extraordinary challenges to continue reporting on their communities while experiencing war, prison, government crackdowns, and the rising criminalization of their work.

CPJ will also posthumously honor Christophe Deloire, who served as director general of the press freedom organization Reporters sans frontières / Reporters Without Borders / RSF, with the 2024 Gwen Ifill Press Freedom Award. This award is presented annually to an individual who has shown extraordinary and sustained achievement in the cause of press freedom.

‏We call on international and human rights institutions to intervene urgently to reveal their fate and release them immediately.
