European parliamentarians write a letter against Israeli annexation of West Bank
EU/PGN- 26/06/2020--More than 1,000 European parliamentarians wrote a letter yesterday advocating against Israel’s planned annexation of the West Bank.
The letter is addressed to European leaders and calls on them to “act decisively” in preventing annexation by deliberating with international actors on the issue. It was signed by 1,080 parliamentarians from 25 European countries, including the United Kingdom.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to annex Jewish settlements in Palestinian territory starting in July, and also wants to annex the Jordan Valley in the West Bank. Annexation enjoys support from the Israeli right, but many Palestinians say it will destroy their prospects for statehood. Much of the international community considers the West Bank, which Israel captured during the 1967 war from Jordan, as occupied by Israel.
The United States is open to annexation as part of the Donald Trump administration’s peace plan but under certain conditions. The plan allows for Israel to annex parts of the West Bank, but also envisions an eventual Palestinian state. The Trump administration has been insisting that the partner of Netanyahu’s Likud party in the unity government, the Blue and White party, agree to annexation before it is to move forward.

Palestinian Foreign Ministry: Pompeo’s remarks proves US complicity in Israeli settler-colonialism
Jerusalem/PGN–22/04/2020–The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today announced that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s remarks on Israel’s move to annex parts of the occupied Palestinian territories reaffirm the extent of the US complicity in the expansionist Israeli settler-colonialism.
The ministry condemned Pompeo’s statements that it was Israel’s decision whether to annex parts of the occupied West Bank and the US will offer its views on this to the new Israeli government in private.
The Ministry added that Pompeo's statements are deemed “furtherance of the US undermining of the pillars of the international system and disregard for international peace references, particularly the land for peace the two-state solution principles.”

Jerusalem/PGN–12/04/2020 –The National Bureau for defending land and resisting settlements stated in its latest weekly report, that annexation plans are no longer obstacle to the formation of a new Israeli government as the Likud Party’s leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Kahul Levan Party’s leader, Benny Gantz have agreed in principle to impose Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea next July, in complete coordination with the American Administration. Within the context, the Israeli Human Rights Organization “A'raim” warned the upcoming government of the consequences of annexing the Jordan Valley, and the settlements in the occupied West Bank under the so-called ‘Deal of the Century’, adding that the government is exploiting the world’s preoccupation with confronting the novel coronavirus to escalate its ongoing aggression against the Palestinians through annexing the above-mentioned areas. For his part, Israeli Prime Minister, Netanyahu vowed to the Head of the Settlements Council in the West Bank, David Al Hayani that annexation will be implemented soon.

Al-Hindi launched an open-ended hunger strike in protest of being placed under administrative detention, a widely-condemned policy that allows Israel to detain Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals usually ranging between three and six months based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing.
Al-Hindi, 29, a resident of the Nablus-district village of Tell, was re-detained early September of this year and has been on hunger strike for 75 days in a row in protest of his administrative detention. On Balfour anniversary, government calls on Britain to recognize Palestine
Jerusalem/PGN–02/11/2019–On the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the infamous Balfour Declaration, the Palestinian government called today upon Britain to remedy its historical fault and recognize the State of Palestine on the 1967 border, with Jerusalem as its capital.
In a statement marking the occasion, government’s spokesman Ibrahim Melhem called upon the international community to provide a mechanism of protection for the Palestinian people who, under prolonged Israeli occupation, continue to sustain the impact of the illegal Israeli settlement activities as well as the other forms of oppression by the occupying power.
On November 2,1917, years before Britain had occupied Palestine, then British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour promised in a letter to Jewish leaders in the United Kingdom a homeland in Palestine for Europe’s Jews totally disregarding that country’s sovereign status and the existence of its indigenous Palestinian Arab population.
