LETICIA TONOS LLEVA LA HISTORIA DE MILLY QUEZADA AL CINE

La vibrante estrella del merengue dominicano, Milly Quezada, recibe un merecido homenaje en el enérgico biopic Milly, la Reina del Merengue, un musical electrizante que se exhibirá en el London Screenings Market a finales de este mes.

Obligada a huir durante la turbulenta guerra civil de la República Dominicana, la familia de Quezada emigró al bullicioso barrio latino de Manhattan, Washington Heights, en un momento en que la diáspora anhelaba la música de su tierra.

El relato, cargado de esperanza, recorre el camino de la cantante desde su adolescencia y su carrera inicial con Milly, Jocelyn y Los Vecinos, hasta su lucha contra la depresión que la llevó a un regreso triunfal como solista, obteniendo múltiples Latin Grammy y consolidando su título real en la música.

Dirigida por Leticia Tonos, cineasta galardonada y nacida en Santo Domingo —cuyas películas Love Child, Cristo Rey, Mis 500 locos y Aire, Just Breathe fueron seleccionadas por la República Dominicana para representar al país en los Premios Óscar en la categoría de Mejor Película Internacional—, la película captura la resiliencia, la determinación y la fuerza de la cantante latina en su ascenso dentro de una industria dominada por hombres y marcada por normas sociales tradicionales.

“Contar la historia de una artista conocida como ‘La Reina de la Alegría’ superando la depresión era una propuesta irresistible. Milly no es la típica música luchando contra la adicción o explorando su identidad sexual; su lucha es mucho más universal”, dijo Tonos a Variety.

At Reaktor Post we have an *immediate* opening for a motion graphic artist/designer as a full time position. The ideal candidate would posses the following:

- A diverse portfolio/reel that shows off you best work but also your interests and passions.

- 2-3 years motion design experience.

- Strong skills in the required software; Adobe suite with a focus on Adobe After Effects & C4D.

- Knowledge of other 3D software is a bonus, but not a prerequisite; Maya, Arnold, Redshift or Octane.

- Interest in VFX and/or knowledge of Nuke, Flame or Digital Fusion is another bonus but certainly not necessary. (*you can also do VFX in AE).

-A proven ability to work within a team and on tight deadlines.

- Must be idea driven & eternally curious.

- Good communication skills and the ability to present ideas clearly.

- Strong organizational and file management skills.

- Detail oriented with an ability to blend creative and technical skills/asks.

- Enthusiasm for design, motion graphics and visual story telling.

JOB OPPORTUNITY for a CG Generalist.

CG Generalist
We seek artists well rounded in CG animated content creation from end to end.
Tasked with providing content and assets of a wide variety sort to facilitate the needs of our ever
changing productions, the likes of Advertising, broadcast television series, Feature Films and
Special Venue. This individual must possess a Jack of all Trades’ skillset focused mainly on 3d
cgi vfx production, from asset creation modeling, shading and texture, lighting, 3d rigging and 3d
animation. A 2d variable skillset including motion graphics are considered an added bonus. A
knowledgeable foundation in film production, pipelines, general compositing and Post.
This individual must have an intermediate familiarity with standard industry software
applications, including Maya, Zbrush or comparable (Mudbox/Modo) Substance, C4d, Nuke, ae,
photoshop. Other applications are welcome should they fit within the required needs of our
productions.
MAIN DUTIES;
The Ability to troubleshoot and tackle tasks of variable sorts whilst managing time and output in
correlation to production requirements and deadlines. Having the ability to work both
independently and comfortably alongside others, able to take orders and directions while
handling multi-tasking multiple projects at the same time.

With the premiere of "PRIMAL" on Amazon Prime some peeps have asked about the VFX on the film. Here is an example of one-shot that was done with the ship docked at port and we had to make it look like it was stranded in the middle of the sea. We had to transition from a real boat/shot to a 100% CG shot/boat after the shot started, to make it harder, we had to keep the original deck, so the CG boat needed to be a 100% accurate recreation so everything would line up seamlessly...

BTW, after the shot plays you can see some turntables with the boat asset under different lighting conditions.
