Hungarian Dance No. 5 is one of Johannes Brahms' most famous compositions. It belongs to the cycle of Miniatures for piano, which consists of a dozen or so short pieces of different character.
It is full of energy and temperament, referring to traditional Hungarian melodies. The piece is characterized by a fast tempo, pulsating rhythm and melodic motifs that intertwine with intensive chords.
