Holy Death - "Triumph of Evil?"

Dziś wpis bardziej pod kątem samego wydania niż zawartości muzycznej, bo o "Triumph of Evil?" Holy Death napisano już chyba wszystko. Chyba i ja coś kiedyś skrobałem w temacie. Bezapelacyjnie najlepsza płyta tego zespołu. Definiująca ich styl, zawierająca najlepsze kompozycje i zapisująca się na kartach polskiej sceny BM. Holy Death szło swoją własną drogą grając black metal oparty bardziej na Bathory, Samael, Celtic Frost i greckiej scenie, niż Skandynawii, która była wtedy modna. Bardzo mocno akcentowali również klimat w swojej muzyce i stawiali na nieco wolniejsze kompozycje.

Z końcem roku 2024, w wersji dwupłytowej, wznowiło ten album Old Temple. Płyta otrzymała wyczerpujące liner notes oraz drugi dodatkowy dysk, gdzie na gitarze jest Gerard Niemczyk. No i tu trzeba przyznać wpada nowa jakość dla tej płyty. Musicie sobie tego posłuchać koniecznie. Jak ktoś ma już wcześniejsze wydania tego albumu, to dla tego bonusu warto sobie zakup ponowić i posłuchać, a i przy okazji poczytać trochę o historii powstawania płyty "Triumph of Evil?". Co więcej, jak widać album został wydany na wzór pierwszej edycji, podbnie jak to miało miejsce w przypadku wznowień z UtSoG i Witching Hour, ale ze starym logo znanym z "Abraxas". CD oczywiście złote (tu tego nie widać, bo zastosowałem czarno-biały filtr na zdjęcia), jak to w Old Temple.

Czy polecam? Oczywiście, że tak!

Holy Death - "Triumph of Evil?"

Today's post is more from the angle of the release itself than the musical content, because everything about "Triumph of Evil?" by Holy Death has probably already been written. I think I've also scrawled something on the subject in the past. Unquestionably the best album by this band. Defining their style, containing the best compositions and making a mark on the Polish BM scene. Holy Death went their own way, playing black metal based more on Bathory, Samael, Celtic Frost and the Greek scene than Scandinavian one, which was popular at the time. They also heavily emphasised atmosphere in their music and relied on slightly slower compositions.

At the end of 2024, Old Temple reissued this album in a two-disc version. The album received comprehensive liner notes and a second bonus disc featuring Gerard Niemczyk on guitar. And this is where a new quality falls into place for this album. You absolutely have to listen to it. If you already have previous releases of this record, it is worth buying it again for this bonus, and also to read a bit about the history of the making of "Triumph of Evil?". What's more, as you can see, the album has been reissued like the first edition, similar to the reissues from UtSoG and Witching Hour, but with the old logo known from "Abraxas". The CD, of course, is gold (you can't see it here, because I applied a black and white filter to the photos), as most of Old Temple releases.

Do I recommend it, of course I do!
