JZT(Jehaad For Zero Thalassemia)....is a non-profit,volunteer organisation launched and maintained by the students of University of Central Punjab,Lahore.it works under the Health & Hygiene Category of societies. the program aims at creating awareness among the university students in particular and public in general about coping with a fatal blood disorder that has victimised thousands of humans r
ight in their early ages, just because of UNAWARENESS OF THE PARENTS. JZT plans to bring awareness to all marrying people and hence motivate them to get their blood screened for Thalassemia Minor. This way they can make sure that they are not Thalassemia Minors and their kid-to-be would not suffer from Thalassemia Major....whose only treatment is regular blood transfusion after 2 weeks OR "bone marrow transplant surgery" that is highly costly for everyone to afford. in order to provide further ease to its members, JZT has worked on cutting the commercially high prices of the screening tests from about PKR 2000 to PKR 450 only. A JZT member would have to submit just PKR 60 at time of induction. His/Her CBC would be conducted for this amount and if the report is ok, he/she would be a confirmed non-thalassemic, a safer citizen and an informed parent. The team plans to raise funds on its own, making it the least burdensome for the university. However, it eagerly looks forward to encouraging and patronising role of the authorities to help JZT flourish in its endeavours. JZT works in formal collaboration with FATIMID FOUNDATION, Lahore ,which would provide the blood testing facilities for the members of JZT. OUR goal IS: "THALASSEMIA FREE PAKISTAN"..
