It was established as a district in 1988 comprising two former administrative units of 𝐙𝐡𝐨𝐛 District: the Upper 𝐙𝐡𝐨𝐛 Sub-division and the sub-tehsil of Badinai, previously named Kashatoo and part of the subdistrict of K
