Shoaib Malik ties the knot with actress Sana Javed, shares pics on social media

Shoaib Malik tied the knot with actress Sana Javed. It is unclear if he has divorced Indian tennis player Sania Mirza. Speculations about Malik's separation with Javed circulated after he wished her on her birthday last year.
Veteran Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik recently announced his marriage to Pakistani actress Sana Javed. Malik took to X (formerly Twitter) to share pictures from their wedding ceremony with the caption, "And we created you in pairs."
Sana Javed is a Pakistani actress, who has appeared in many Urdu show. It is not yet clear whether Shoaib has formalised his divorce with Indian former tennis player Sania Mirza.
Speculations about Malik's separation with Javed had been circulating since years, gaining traction when the cricketer wished the actress on her birthday last year. The 41-year-old had previously expressed support for Javed in the face of criticism, emphasizing her kindness and courtesy.
The wedding revelation comes amid heightened divorce speculations with Sania Mirza, with whom Malik tied the knot in 2010 in a nikah. The couple later had a Walima ceremony in Sialkot, Pakistan, and shares a son named Izhaan, born in 2018.
Sania Mirza added fuel to the speculations earlier in the week when she posted a cryptic message on Instagram, addressing the challenges of marriage and divorce. The post ignited discussions about the couple's relationship status.

Shaheen Afridi praises Saim Ayub despite New Zealand series loss,

Pakistan’s T20I captain Shaheen Afridi heaped high praise on young opening batter Saim Ayub despite losing the T20I series against New Zealand.

Pakistan suffered a 45-run loss in the third T20I match in Dunedin, courtesy of Finn Allen’s blistering 137 runs from 62 balls.

New Zealand attained an unassailable lead of 3-0 in the five-match series after thumping Pakistan in the first two matches.

During the post-match press conference, Shaheen Afridi lauded Saim Ayub, who showed glimpses of his talent during the series.

“Saim can be a very big star. He has the ability and hunger to do well for Pakistan. He always gives his best, even in the nets,” said Afridi.

“In these conditions, it’s not always easy for a young kid. We need to give him some time.”

Saim Ayub played a quick cameo of 27 runs from eight balls in the first match, featuring three sixes and two boundaries.

Shaheen Afridi also backed hard-hitting wicket-keeper Azam Khan, who is yet to set the stage on fire in the series, scoring 22 runs from three innings.

“Azam [Khan] is the best performer in domestic cricket at #5/6. His average and strike rate is the best in Pakistan at these positions. If we give these players proper opportunities, they can go on to do well for Pakistan,” Shaheen mentioned.

Upon being asked about his decision to bowl, Shaheen Afridi justified the decision, citing the ground’s history as the core reason.

“This ground’s history, both in international and domestic cricket, showed us that chasing is easier here. After consultation as a team, we thought it would be better to bowl first,” said Afridi.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t deliver in the powerplay as a bowling unit, and our bowling has collapsed in these three games. However, we need to give this team time if we are to think about the big events ahead.”

Babar Azam achieves major landmark in T20I cricket,

AUCKLAND: Pakistan ace batter Babar Azam on Friday, added another feather to his cap as he went past Martin Guptill in the list of leading run-scorers in T20Is.

Babar, who scored a gutsy half-century in Pakistan’s 46-run defeat against New Zealand, became the third leading run-scorer of the shortest format.

The right-handed batter now has 3,542 runs in just 99 innings at an average of 41.67 with the help of three centuries and 31 fifties.

India’s Virat Kohli tops the list of leading run-getters in T20Is with 4008 runs in 107 innings, closely followed by his compatriot Sharma with 3853 runs in 141 innings.

Notably, Babar Azam is the only batter among the top four, who took less than 100 innings.

It is worth mentioning here that despite Babar’s half-century, Pakistan succumbed to a 46-run defeat against New Zealand as they were bundled out of 180 while chasing a mammoth 227.

Saim Ayub gave Pakistan a flying start with a blistering 27-run knock from eight balls before getting run out in the third over.

His innings featured two boundaries and three sixes.

Mohammad Rizwan was the next to depart after scoring 25 off 14 as Southee got him out caught behind with 63 runs on the board.

Fakhar Zaman came in at number four but could only manage 15 runs from 10 balls before getting out off Ish Sodhi, bringing Iftikhar Ahmed to the middle with Pakistan needing 137 runs in 71 balls.

Babar Azam and Ahmed knitted a promising 40-run partnership but Southee removed the latter with a slower one to reduce Pakistan to 130-4.

Iftikhar Ahmed scored 24 runs from 17 balls with the help of one boundary and two sixes.

Adam Milne then removed Azam Khan (10) and Shaheen Afridi (0) to further dent Pakistan’s progress.

Babar Azam switched gears towards the end but could only score 57 runs from 35 balls, laced with six boundaries and two sixes before Kane Williamson caught him off Ben Sears.

Aamir Jamal scored an unbeaten 14 off 7 for Pakistan, while New Zealand bowlers cleaned up the tail to wrap the innings at 180.

Southee led the bowling charts for the home side with four wickets, while Milne and Sears picked two each.

Earlier, after being put into bat first, New Zealand registered a massive total of 226/8 in the allotted 20 overs, courtesy of skipper Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell’s half-centuries.

Pakistan launches first-ever credit guarantee company for SMEs

ISLAMABAD: The Finance Ministry on Friday launched Pakistan’s first special credit guarantee company namely the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGCL), to provide financial assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives from the British High Commission, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCP), State Bank of Pakistan, and the Ministry of Finance.

NCGCL, the joint venture of Ministry of Finance and Karandaaz, aims to enhance financial accessibility through special credit guarantee facilities, particularly focusing on expanding financial reach for businesses operating at the small and medium scale across the board.

Fawad Hassan reiterates election to be held on time

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Privatisation Minister Fawad Hassan Fawad reiterated that the General Elections 2024 will be held on its announced date February 8 and the incumbent government would fully support the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in conducting the polls.

Speaking at ARY News programme “Aitraz Hai”, the caretaker privatisation minister pointed out that the interim government’s responsibility was to assist the electoral watchdog in holding elections.

He said that the previous federal government of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) had empowered the caretaker government by amending the Election Act.

Fawad Hassan Fawad said that the Supreme Court (SC) has also made it clear that the general polls will be held on February 8. “As per the constitutional procedure, the caretaker government will remain in place until formation of the new elected government,” he noted.

“The Caretaker government will not go beyond its constitutional period even for a day,” he asserted.

The remarks came after another resolution was moved in the Senate of Pakistan today, seeking a delay in the general election 2024 for three months, citing security challenges.

Expressing concern about the rising attacks on the candidates willing to contest the general election, the resolution moved in the Senate has demanded delaying the election for three months.

The Senate resolution urged the Election Commission of Pakistan and the Supreme Court to ensure a peaceful election.

It is to be noted that earlier this month, the Upper House of Parliament adopted a resolution, which was moved by independent Senator Dilawar Khan during a session with only 15 lawmakers in attendance. It sought polls delay in the light of extreme weather in hilly areas and the deteriorating security situation.
