5th Meeting of the Board of Trustees at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM)

The 5th meeting of the Board of Trustees of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) was successfully held under the chairmanship of the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Zahir Shah. The meeting commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, setting a spiritual and solemn tone.

The minutes of the 4th meeting were reviewed and unanimously confirmed. Several significant decisions were made during the meeting to benefit the AWKUM family. Among these, the health grant policy was approved with minor changes, and committees were constituted to work on crucial initiatives, including the formulation of an education policy and insurance schemes to secure a brighter future for the university's employees.

Dr. Ali Khan and Mumtaz Khan, elected members of the Board of Trustees, participated in the meeting with great enthusiasm and dedication. Dr. Ali Khan, who also serves as the Spokesperson of the All Employees Association (AEA), AWKUM, extended heartfelt gratitude to the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Zahir Shah, on behalf of the employees. He expressed profound appreciation for Dr. Z.Shah's visionary leadership and concluded his remarks with prayers for the continued success and prosperity of AWKUM.

Adnan Saeed, President of the AEA, Muzamil Shah, Chairman, Mr. Imtiaz Khan Papu, Vice Chairman, of the Association, commended the efforts of all board members, particularly the goodwill and sincere intentions of the Vice Chancellor, in addressing the needs and welfare of the university community.

The meeting reaffirmed the university's commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for its employees and faculty, ensuring their well-being and professional growth.

Abdul Wali Khan University Participates in USAID Training to Strengthen Research Productivity

From December 16 to 19, 2024, Dr. Ali Khan, Assistant Director ORIC/Research Manager at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, had the privilege of attending a transformative training workshop on "Strengthening Research Productivity and Relevance at Universities." This impactful event was organized under the USAID Higher Education Strengthening Activity in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, The University of Utah (USA), The University of Alabama (USA), and The Power of International Education.

Representing Abdul Wali Khan University alongside Dr. Tariq Mehmood (Director ORIC), Professor Dr. Amjad Iqbal, and Dr. Hameeda Bibi, we engaged in insightful sessions focused on enhancing research output, aligning research with societal needs, and fostering collaboration across academic institutions.

ORIC Progress Presentation Appreciated by the Vice Chancellor

Mardan, 12th December 2024 – A comprehensive presentation on the progress and achievements of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) was presented to the Worthy Vice Chancellor of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Professor Dr. Zahir Shah, by Director ORIC Dr. Tariq Mehmood.

The event, held in the Vice Chancellor's Secretariat, was attended by Dr. Ali Khan (Assistant Director, ORIC) and Muhammad Naseer (Deputy Director, ORIC). During the presentation, the Vice Chancellor was briefed on the strides made by ORIC in fostering research, innovation, and strengthening academia-industry linkages.

Professor Dr. Zahir Shah expressed his satisfaction and commended the entire ORIC team for their dedication and achievements. He emphasized the critical role of ORIC in advancing the university's research goals and its contribution to regional and national development.

The ORIC team reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of excellence and supporting the university’s vision of academic and research leadership.

Dr. Ali Khan, Assistant Director ORIC at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, was honored with a certificate of participation in a Capacity Building Workshop on "HEC Anti-Plagiarism Policy 2023 and the Use of Turnitin Software." The certificate was presented by the esteemed Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Zahir Shah. The workshop, organized by the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of AWKUM, aimed to strengthen institutional knowledge on academic integrity and plagiarism prevention.

The event was graced by the presence of Director ORIC Dr. Tariq Mehmood, Director Academics Professor Dr. Saeed Ul Islam, and the esteemed Director QEC, highlighting the university’s commitment to promoting a culture of research ethics and academic excellence.

Today, in a significant meeting of the Board of Trustees held in the conference room, chaired by our esteemed Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Zahir Shah. Several key decisions were made to further strengthen the management structure of the board. The Board reconstituted the Management Committee. Dr. Ali Khan, Assistant Director (ORIC) and AEA Spokesperson along with Mumtaz Khan being nominated to bring valuable perspectives to the committee. Additionally, Dr. Ali Khan has been selected to contribute to two more committees, underscoring his dedication and expertise.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Zahir Shah and all board members for their unwavering support and trust. These strategic decisions reflect the commitment to achieving excellence and fostering a collaborative environment at AWKUM.
