Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has firmly stated that the party will not face a ban, despite ongoing tensions surrounding the political party’s protests and clashes with security forces.

Speaking to journalists after meeting PTI founder Imran Khan outside Adiala Jail, Mr Gohar condemned the violence during the protests but assured that Imran Khan would soon announce the future course of action.

Addressing the media, Barrister Gohar clarified that Imran Khan had not been informed of the controversial incident on November 26, when gunfire erupted during a PTI-led protest.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lauded a record decline in inflation to 4.9% after almost six-and-a-half years, expressing hope that the remarkable development will lead to further cuts in the key policy rate.

Beating official forecasts, Pakistan’s inflation slowed to 4.9% year-on-year in November 2024, down from 7.2% in October, marking its lowest level in six-and-a-half years, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Monday.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly open to adopting a hybrid model for hosting the Champions Trophy 2025, the Indian media has claimed.

This decision comes after India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan due to security concerns, with media reports indicating that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has been pushing Pakistan for hosting through the hybrid model.

While no official announcement has been made by either the ICC or PCB, the report suggests that India would play their matches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, the PCB has outlined three conditions for agreeing to this arrangement:

Matches involving the Indian cricket team, including group stage fixtures, the semi-final, and the final (if India qualifies), must be played in Dubai.
If India fails to advance beyond the group stage, Lahore will host the semi-final and final.
In future ICC events hosted by India, Pakistan’s matches must be held at neutral venues.

Certain areas of the city reported significantly higher AQI levels, highlighting localized hotspots of severe pollution.

Sundar Industrial Area in Raiwind recorded the highest AQI at 577, followed by Defence Phase 5 at 451 and Pine Avenue at 379. Valencia Town recorded an AQI of 348, while Johar Town and Cavalry Ground registered 292 and 291, respectively. Shadman stood at 282, Ferozepur and Model Town’s surroundings at 269, Ghazi Road at 268, and Gulberg at 267.

Medical experts have advised citizens to take necessary precautions, including wearing masks while outdoors, to reduce health risks posed by the hazardous air quality.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday admonished the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for recent protest violence, accusing its leaders of causing grave economic harm to the country and directing authorities to establish anti-riot forces nationwide.

“The forces should be professionally trained and equipped with tools meeting international standards,” the premier said while chairing a review meeting on the law-and-order situation in Islamabad.

Islamabad was brought to a standstill on Monday and Tuesday when scores of PTI supporters flooded the federal capital, defying a ban by authorities.

The former ruling party’s “do-or-die” protest demanding PTI founder Imran Khan’s immediate release was shelved abruptly after law enforcement agencies (LEAs) launched a crackdown.

PTI leader Salman Akram Raja, claiming that at least 20 people lost their lives, said that the party would move courts against the government, the Ministry of Interior, and the interior minister.

Meanwhile, Islamabad’s police chief, Ali Rizvi, denied using live ammunition during the operation, saying that 600 protesters were arrested in Tuesday’s operation, bringing the total, since the protest began on Sunday, to 954.

During the meeting today, the prime minister was briefed on the recent vandalism of public property and attacks on police and Rangers personnel by protesters.

He said that those involved in this unprecedented corruption and conspiracies to bankrupt the country to save their regime were now in the clutches of the law. “Instead of taking the legal route, attempts were repeatedly made to spread chaos across the country by marching on Islamabad,” he said.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur announced that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will continue its sit-in across Pakistan despite the last night crackdown against party workers in Islamabad.

Addressing a press conference in Mansehra, Ali Amin Gandapur stated that PTI has always led peaceful protests, upholding the supremacy of law and democracy.

Gandapur emphasized that former prime minister, Imran Khan, is currently in jail, and the party’s mandate was stolen in the February 8 elections but the PTI workers were subjected to violence, and their peaceful protest was met with gunfire when they protested against these injustices.

The chief minister made it clear that the sit-in will continue until the party’s demands are met. He also announced that PTI will provide Rs 10 million each to the families of workers who were martyred during the protest.

Gandapur slammed the government for its actions, stating that they are trying to suppress the peaceful protest. He warned the government to refrain from using violence against peaceful protesters.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Tuesday night that schools, roads, internet services, and the Metro bus will soon resume operations as normalcy begins to return to the country.

“Schools will reopen from Thursday, while roads will be cleared by tomorrow (Wednesday),” Naqvi said during a press briefing at D-Chowk in Islamabad. He further added that internet services and the Metro bus would be operational by Wednesday morning.

On being asked about the whereabouts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, Naqvi said the two remain at large.

“We offered the PTI to shift the protest site to Sangjani,” the minister said, adding that “their acting president (referring to Bushra Bibi)” rejected PTI Founder Imran Khan’s directives and insisted on continuing the march toward D-Chowk.

In a city shrouded by political unrest and security lockdowns, a couple’s unconventional wedding photoshoot in front of container barricades has captured the attention of social media users across Pakistan.

Khola and Qasim, a newlywed couple, chose the fortified streets of the federal capital as the backdrop for their wedding photos.

Clad in elegant silver-toned outfits, Khola in a shimmering gown and Qasim in a dapper suit, the duo posed against a line of containers placed to block roads amid ongoing political protests.
