The ICC has unveiled the T20I Team of the Year 2023, appointing India's Suryak*mar Yadav as the captain. This selection acknowledges outstanding performances in 2023, showcasing excellence with bat, ball, or all-round contributions.

Despite the absence of Pakistani players, the XI is dominated by Indian cricketers. Alongside captain Suryak*mar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravi Bishnoi, and Arshdeep Singh secured spots in the team.

Jaiswal, who made his debut in 2022, was chosen as the opener alongside England's Phil Salt. Jaiswal's impressive 430 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 159 contributed to his selection. Salt, scoring 331 runs in a T20I series, outshone other top-scoring batters.

Wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran of West Indies claimed the No. 3 spot, with Suryak*mar Yadav leading the team as captain. Mark Chapman of New Zealand and Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza occupied the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively.

The lower order featured Uganda's Alpesh Ramjani and Ireland's Mark Adair at 7 and 8. Ramjani topped the T20I wickets chart with 55 wickets at an economy of 4.77, while Adair took 26 wickets at an economy of 7.42.

Completing the bowling attack, India's Ravi Bishnoi, Zimbabwe's Richard Ngarava, and India's Arshdeep Singh secured spots. During the first half of the fiscal year, Pakistan experienced a nearly 5 percent decline in textile exports, amounting to a reduction of $430 million, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). In contrast, rice exports increased significantly by $710 million, or 76.5 percent, reaching $1.638 billion.

The data also indicated a modest recovery in textile exports in December 2023, with a year-on-year increase of 3.3 percent, totaling $1.4 billion. Rice exports saw a remarkable surge during the month, increasing by 190.5 percent to $518.64 million.

Basmati rice exports in December increased by 54.7 percent to $80.8 million, while other varieties' exports rose by 247 percent to $438 million. In the first half of the fiscal year, total basmati rice exports grew by 30 percent to $367.4 million, and other rice sales increased by 96.9 percent to $1.27 billion. The surge in rice exports is attributed to India's ban on rice exports, leading to increased foreign exchange earnings for Pakistan.

However, the local market has witnessed over a 100 percent increase in staple prices, impacting the budgets of millions of Pakistanis. The PBS data also revealed a month-on-month increase of 6.1 percent in textile exports from $1.318 billion in November 2023. The surge in rice exports is attributed to India's ban on rice exports, leading to a notable increase in foreign exchange earnings for Pakistan. However, the local market has seen a spike of over 100 percent in staple prices, impacting the budgets of millions of Pakistanis.

Other sectors, such as football, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cement, plastic materials, and engineering goods, showed mixed trends in exports during December 2023.

The PTA swiftly addressed the issue, working to resolve the technical glitch that temporarily disrupted internet services. The authority confirmed that the necessary measures were taken to rectify the problem and ensure the seamless functioning of internet connectivity.
During the outage, users faced challenges accessing online platforms, and various online services experienced disruptions. However, with the prompt intervention of the PTA, connectivity has been fully restored, bringing relief to users and businesses relying on uninterrupted internet access.

Japan has successfully landed its spacecraft on the lunar surface, becoming the fifth country in history to achieve this milestone. The spacecraft, named the Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM), made the landing early on Saturday, according to officials.
While the mission control initially reported the landing, there is still uncertainty about categorizing it as a total success. Further analysis is needed to determine if the spacecraft made a pinpoint landing, and concerns exist about the power supply, particularly the solar power panels.
Hitoshi Kuninaka, the head of the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, mentioned that they believe rovers were launched, and data transmission to Earth was ongoing. However, the lander may be facing issues with its solar power panels, currently operating only on batteries.
Despite these uncertainties, Kuninaka expressed confidence that the mission achieved at least a "minimum" level of success. The SLIM mission marks Japan's entry into the select group of nations, including the United States, the Soviet Union, China, and India, that have successfully reached the moon.

Mari Petroleum Limited has announced a successful discovery of a gas well in the second Ghazij formation in Sindh. The company drilled down to a depth of 1,014 meters and reported promising results.
The exploration is expected to yield an output of 6.57 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, adding significantly to the region's energy resources.
The gas well will undergo test production after completing necessary regulatory formalities. Last year, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) also announced an oil and gas discovery in Sindh's Sanghar district.

The top position in the bowling rankings was held by Adil Rashid from England, while West Indian bowler Akeal Hossain claimed the second position.
