Instagram is removing the ability to FOLLOW hashtags. (This does *not* mean hashtags are going away completely).

Starting December 13, any posts with hashtags that you follow will not be shown in your feed. Have you seen this notification?
There isn't a lot more information available yet. However, most likely this move is directly related to Meta's AI-powered discovery engine that pulls from a VAST range of signals to recommend content to you.

At least 50% of the content you see in most all of your social media feeds these days is suggested from people/accounts/pages that you do not follow. 😳 Crazy, right? (BUT there are advantages because new people can discover you/your business!)
Meta is very proud of its AI-powered discovery engine… Pretty much directly copied from TikTok. The whole suggested for you content approach is what made TikTok so successful.

Great news for Facebook Group owners - have you seen this? Meta is about to roll out AI in our groups. 🥳🎉 You'll see this notification at the top of any groups you Admin.

✅ Meta AI will comment on questions that haven't gotten an answer after one hour! [Wow, this could be really useful in very active groups, yes?]

✅ Meta AI's answers will summarize earlier group discussions and share past posts from the group.

✅ You can delete any of Meta AI's comments, turn off the feature anytime, and customize it for your group.

Amazing. This will be the future of group moderation, yes?

BUT just how accurate will it be?! 🤔

For sure, we want to continue including the human touch for real people-to-people interaction, not to mention oversight of the AI to make sure it's on track!

📣 NEWSFLASH!! Meta is (finally!) rolling out default end-to-end encryption (E2EE). This is for personal messages on Messenger and Facebook.

🔐 What is E2EE? It’s a security method that provides you with much more private and secure messaging.

E2EE means the content of your messages and calls with friends and families are *protected* from the moment they leave your device to the moment they reach the receiver’s device.

This means that NOBODY, including Meta, can see what's sent or said (unless you choose to report a message to Meta).

🔹 Imagine with Meta AI 🔹 is now available as a standalone tool at imagine.meta.com for people in the US, initially. 🇺🇸 It's likely to roll out more widely as soon as possible. The tool was previously only available in chats on a limited basis. 💬
