On Tuesday, the former president willingly surrendered himself to authorities in Miami, following his recent indictment on 37 federal charges concerning the mishandling of classified information. The day prior, Trump lodged at his nearby Doral resort, departing for the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. federal courthouse just after 1:30 p.m. local time. His arraignment was scheduled for 3 p.m. local time.
Stringent security measures were implemented at the courthouse, prohibiting journalists from carrying phones or electronic devices inside. However, a transcript of the proceedings will be made available. Notably, Trump will not be subjected to handcuffing or the customary mugshot process. As expected, he intends to enter a plea of not guilty.
