Ahmad Rafique Akhtar (Born: 15 April 1941) is The Mystic of this Era. A post graduate of Government College, Lahore, he has been associated with teaching for years. There he started delivering lectures on different Islamic and philosophical topics and this eventually grew to such an extent that he had to travel all over the country and different places in the world. published in books. Sahib is “ The Saint of 21st Century.”
He is “ The specialist in the concept of God.”

During this time he was gathering and assimilating knowledge of the past and present in an attempt to reflect on a vision for the future. He looked at international literature from different angles. He remained a serious student of scientific thought and metaphysics. He critically appraised different aspects of faith and religion. His approach was that whether billions of people believe in God or not, bears no importance whatsoever, if they have no presentable evidence to substantiate their beliefs. After extensive holistic reading and objective intellectual reasoning he was able to find an irrefutable argument in the favor of God. He studied and examined the Quran for eight years on strict objective standards and in his own words “I showed no mercy,” and the compliment was returned. This is what he calls a literate faith. After confirmation of His presence he had no option but to surrender himself before God. He critically examined different mystic orders in the religion of Islam. He found them too corrupt to produce even a single man of God. He met people who claimed what was not there. He admires people like Junaid Baghdadi for their sincere intellectual approach. He found that Hazrat Ali Bin Usman Hujwiri is the best teacher for weaker people. He feels deeply indebted to his guidance. He ultimately reached the goal of his ruthlessly instrumental pursuit and was amongst those who returned without being morbid. He concluded that God is the top priority of intellectual curiosity. He thought that the way to God is love and remembrance, and he endeavored to achieve a state of balance and poise by following the footsteps of His Prophet (PBUH). This personal victory, which Iqbal refers to as Mystical Experience, enriched his intellectual faith with evidence, which provided holistic nourishment for his faith. He refers to his mystical experience by reading one of his couplets;

How many surging rivers do I contain in my heart
And how silent like an immense and fearsome ocean. Oh the bliss of losing myself into the eternal ecstasy of knowing him
It seemed as if my heart was sinking as a stone in the water. I feel indebted because he decided to share his ideas and experience with people who want to walk on the same path and I can witness a spark in his eyes when he says:

Gone are the days when I was a lone ranger in the field of search for God. Now there are many to share with. This is from a skeptical student who found the ultimate truth in the Quran. The blatant aggression of scientific thought, discovery and invention accompanied by the paraphernalia of space ships, nanotechnology, atoms, neurons and antimatter has left no room for meditation or self-analysis. In the words of neurophysiologist Dr Roger Sperry we are going through functional hemispherical transactions of our brains. As a result of this bifurcation, the objective scientific trends went astray and subjective approaches developed confusion and chaos. Religion became a private matter and faith was shy and scared of facing the skepticism of modern times. I am sure that this book will help you to transform this dichotomy into harmony. I conclude my comments with one of his statements:

“I did not choose Islam as a religion; I chose it as an intellectual choice and have found it to be the most balanced and internally coherent ideology, and this I would like to convey to people”. Dr Abdul Jalil Khawaja
