We took a family trip to Hunza from Vancouver, Canada and stayed a month at 'The Nest' in Hunza. The home was beautiful with everything we needed. Clean bathroom, crib for our baby, king bed, kitchen and dining area. The Rakaposhi Mountain view from The Nest are breathtaking. The manager is very kind and easy to communicate with. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Karimabad, Hunza.

Walking through the picturesque old town, you’re constantly moving up and down among different hills and valleys. This elevation from top to down provides expansive panoramic views out over smalls cities handcraft shops, traditional food stores, restaurants and up to historical monuments and breathtaking view of friendly nature .

It is truly one of the most beautiful and unspoiled areas that I have ever visited anywhere in the world. Like most Pakistanis, the people are incredibly friendly and hospitable. But unlike many other people's of the country, the people of Hunza are very polite, courteous and tolerant. Although the area boasts of nearly 100% literacy, thanks to the efforts of the Agha Khan, the humility, culture and traditional values of the local population is still intact. The valley serves as the launching pad for many mountaineering expeditions as well as for lazier sightseeing expeditions to the many attractions in the region. The road from Gilgit to Hunza and beyond to the Pak- China border is excellent.

There are too many appetizing food dishes that the local people love to eat in which some of the traditional items that are a special trademark of this stunning valley are listed,Chapshuro Gyaling/Gral,Buroshapik/Ghilmindi, Diram Pitti, Tumoro Tea, Hoilo Garma, Buttering Doudo, Harisa and Molida.

Karimabad can take the title of a town that never sleeps. Even at 3 am, many restaurants and shops are doing brisk business. Local staples like jams, honey and dry fruit are very popular with the tourists. Made from fresh apricots, the jam I had for breakfast was as good as it gets. One very popular coffee and dessert shop is Café de Hunza which has a style that would not be out of place anywhere in New York or Montreal. The quality of the wide variety of coffee and dessert is excellent. No wonder this little gem of a place is packed at all times. There is a good choice of food available all along the main street. Some places (but not enough, I think) offer local specialties like Shab Shoroo (fried bread filled with minced meat) and a soup called Garma. A little place perched at the edge of the road run by three local ladies had such delicious food that the waiting time was over two hours!! One big surprise was that I had the best pizza I have had anywhere in my travels around the world. A place called Pamir Pizza on the main street near the Baltit Fort served me a pan pizza that stood out as a complete winner.
