We came about at first as a public service blog — after a photo session in December 24, 2005 in Lumbangan, a small village east of Zamboanga City, where the government garbage depot is located. Children and old men and women were digging through a mountain of garbage and picking pieces of rotten vegetables and meat already covered with maggots. Help never came, not even from politicians so we deci

ded to turn our blog into a tool to help the less fortunate. The Mindanao Examiner (newspaper, film, television) is maintained by idealist people and responsible journalists who are committed to help carry out the mission of helping the poor. Our Publisher, Editor-in-Chief and Bureau Chiefs and even correspondents work pro-bono and we share our meager resources to donate to the poor. We seek donations – from books to medicines – from our friends and supporters, and partners and sponsors, to make a poor child smile again and help others build a dream. The Mindanao Examiner Newspaper is founded in Zamboanga City in 2005 and has circulations in many parts of the southern Philippines and in Cebu province in central Philippines, and in Quiapo district in Manila. The company expanded its business in 2009 to include cable television and radio programming block time and filmmaking. And in 2019, it rolled out another newspaper, The Zamboanga Post.

It also has its own multimedia department, Mindanao Examiner Productions, which is in-charge of all video productions, photography services. It has provided photography and video works for various corporations and companies and individuals in the Philippines, including local governments in Mindanao region and foreign media firms as well.

The Mindanao Examiner has produced several corporate and tourism videos and independent short films, including full-length commissioned bio-films and documentaries.
