Discover the power of language! Words came alive at ZPPSU-CTE Building 2 as students dazzled with linguistic mastery in celebrating the 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝑭𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔.

The event was a resounding success, unleashing students' hidden talents through diverse competitions. The event provided a platform for students to demonstrate their skills in multiple creative disciplines, including where young minds sparkled with creativity and students' talent flourished in competitions like 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗿, 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗲𝗺 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.This event celebrated the beauty of self-expression, using global language connecting through cultural diverse and to the world's interaction and linguistic mastery."

The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACUP) recently evaluated the Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTEd) program of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University's College of Teacher Education for Level 3, Phase 2, from December 2-4, 2024, via an online platform.

Dr. Mark R. Limon, from Mariano Marcos State University, and Dr. Darwin U. Ong, from Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology were served as the AACCUP evaluating team.

CTE: Celebrates English Festival of Talents

On December 2, 2024, Zamboanga Peninsula State University of College of Teacher Education showcased its students' outstanding talent and creative thinking. The event began with a doxology, which was followed by the introduction of the distinguished panel of judges. As the event continued, the participants captivated the audience with outstanding performances in a variety of categories, including smart talking, declamation, storytelling, and Speech Choir. The event was alive with excitement, amazement and pride as talents were shown in full force and a camaraderie.

Along of the stunning performances, the event fostered camaraderie and highlighted the power of thinking skill. Each performance demonstrated how talent, ability, creativity and passion can have an lasting effect.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | 𝐓𝐡𝐞 "𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲: 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦" has finally came to an end last November 29, 2024.

The morning session featured Sudoku Puzzles which was facilitated by Asso Prof. Ronel A. Baluntang. He introduced to the parents the fundamentals of Sudoku, enabling them to learn its rules, and strategies, as well as its importance in developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The session became lively as parents actively participated, showcasing their determination to learn.

In the afternoon, Asso Prof. Marichel Toribio, facilitated the session titled Encouraging Love for Reading. Parents were engaged in interactive activities, including reading passages and stimulating reading comprehension skills. The session highlights the role of reading to enhance a child’s imagination and intellect, inspiring the parents to make a love for reading while at home.

Following the said sessions, the program concluded with a Completion Ceremony, where certificates were awarded to the trainees. The program also featured a heartfelt message and gratitude from the School Principal of Ramon Enriquez High School, Dr. Joel S.J. Garcia

The event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University key officials, BSED English and Math faculty members and students who rendered their time and efforts during the 5-day Extension Program of the College of Teacher. The event left parents who are fully equipped with valuable tools to support their children’s literacy and numeracy development, reinforcing the vital role of family in education. The program provided an effective knowledge about literacy and numeracy, highlighting the crucial role in improving the learners' academic performances.

The morning session was facilitated by Dr. Judith Martinez, who conducted survey to assess the parents' capacity to support their children's learning. She encouraged parents to invest in educational resources, such as books, to promote literacy at home. Her interactive approach allowed parents to better understand how to nurture their children’s reading skills through storytelling, active listening, and question-driven engagement.

Meanwhile, Asso Prof. Hygeia Calumpong led the afternoon session, which focused on basic arithmetic skills. She demonstrated how parents could incorporate simple math exercises into daily routines, such as measuring ingredients during cooking or calculating expenses while shopping. This session empowered parents to reinforce classroom lessons through real life situations at home.

Eventually, the multilingual setting added another layer of challenge, as many participants speak Tausug, Chavacano, Bisaya, and Samal. Despite language differences, parents still exhibited remarkable determination to participate actively, overcoming the language barriers to complete the surveys and engage in the sessions actively. Their dedication was evident as they expressed sincere gratitude for the new knowledge, techniques, and assistance provided during each session.

By empowering parents with these essential skills and strategies, the day ended with the realization that parental involvement is significant, highlighting the importance of shared responsibility between home and school in communities.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of 𝑨𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒔 𝑩𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒐, a great patriot who desired of a nation free of injustice. Bonifacio's 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆, 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝗺, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵 in the Filipino people, serve as reminders of the power that comes from unity and determination. His sacrifices set the foundation for the freedoms we have today, and his story continues to inspire us to work for justice, equality, and growth. During this day, the morning session was facilitated by Instr. Marwina H. Arellano from the BSED-Mathematics program. Her discussion focused on introducing and establishing a strong foundation on numeracy skills among the parents. This session helped the participants gain knowledge and strategies on how to teach their children basic math skills. Moreover, this would be beneficial in improving the academic performance of the students beyond the classroom .

In the afternoon, the session was spearheaded by Dr. Ivy M. Nazareth from BSED English program. The session centralized on the importance of creating learning materials and activities that are fun and engaging for the learners. Furthermore, this will make them more equipped in designing positive learning space for their children.

The collaborative efforts of the key personnel and students from the College of Teacher Education including the Extension Management Office have significantly contributed to the success of the event. Hence, the positive feedback coming from the parents continuously inspire the organizers and the entire ZPPSU community to do and be better each day.

Demonstrating the University's commitment in collaborating with the community to enhance and make education accessible for all, the parental involvement in realizing their children's dreams is truly remarkable and significant for a brighter tomorrow.

The topics focused intensively on mathematics and reading, offering parents valuable insights and hands-on strategies to support their children’s learning and independence. The activities emphasized practical techniques for enhancing comprehension, problem-solving skills, and fostering a love for learning. Parents were equipped with tools to create an engaging environment that will be an avenue in building their children’s confidence and pave the way for academic success.

The morning session was facilitated by Asso. Prof. Ma. Loraine A. Perez who focused on essential mathematical concepts such as area and volume. She guided parents through simple yet practical exercises, enabling them to grasp how to measure space and dimensions effectively. This hands-on approach may empower parents to assist their children with math homework and reinforce classroom lessons, bridging the gap between home and school learning environments. By the end of the morning session, parents gained a solid understanding of how to approach area and volume and felt more confident in their ability to support their children's mathematical learning at home.

During the afternoon session, the activity was led by Asso. Prof. Liseth Taronga, who provided a holistic overview of the key components of reading. She covered phonemic awareness, phonics instruction, vocabulary development, and reading fluency. They learned techniques such as blending sounds, decoding words, expanding vocabulary through reading, and using open-ended questions to enhance their children's early reading skills and comprehension. This well-rounded session on reading demonstrated that literacy development involves more than learning to recognize sounds and words—it requires fostering a deeper understanding and love for reading.

By providing parents with these know-how, the program empowers them to create a nurturing learning environment that will support their children's growth and development.

As the program progresses throughout the week, it continues to build a strong foundation for effective parent involvement in education. With the focus on practical applications and interactive learning, the Parent Mentoring on Literacy and Numeracy Program is paving the way for stronger partnerships between schools and families, ultimately fostering a brighter future for students.

This extension endeavor is being headed headed by the Dean, Dr. Roberto S. Eyo II, with the supervision of the Director for Extension Management Office, Asst. Prof. Celyn Aron-Verallo, and facilitation of the CTE Extension Coordinator, Asso. Prof. Alfie Alga which will run November 25-29, 2024 at Ramon Enriquez High School, Labuan, Zamboanga City.

This vital community outreach program was crafted by its main proponent, Asst. Prof. Mark Anthony Mejares to highlight the importance of parents' role on the improvement of their children's academics, equipping them sufficient knowledge and skills to help them be a good partner of the education sector.

The afternoon session, spearheaded by Prof. Marian Fernando from English Department helps the participants explore the critical link between reading comprehension and academic success of the learners. The session highlighted the significance of understanding the medium of instructions across various subjects.

The participants were grateful for this effort of the ZPPSU community. This initiative underscores the university's commitment to community engagement, extending its expertise beyond campus and fostering collaborative approach to education, recognizing that a child's education begins at home.

The success of this program highlights the potential impact of partnerships with educational institutions and communities in improving learning prospective outcomes.

Celebrating Victory: Embracing the Power of Unity and Sportsmanship

The College of Teacher Education (CTE) is proud to have secured the 7th Place at this year’s ZPPSU Sports Festival! This accomplishment highlights our students' dedication, teamwork, and resilience throughout the competition. From November 11 to 15, we competed with passion, giving our best effort and standing strong among the participating colleges. 💪✨

𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟱 | 𝗭𝗣𝗣𝗦𝗨 𝗣𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗢 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

On the 𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐚𝐲 of the 𝗭𝗣𝗣𝗦𝗨 𝗣𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗢 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, the 𝘡𝘗𝘗𝘚𝘜 - 𝘊𝘛𝘌 𝘙𝘦𝘥 𝘓𝘺𝘯𝘹𝘦𝘴 𝘍𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘴 showcased their talents in acting and dancing the Pinta Flores Festival for the Festival Dance Competition at Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex (Grandstand).

This event was part of the larger recognition ceremony, where winners from the various competitions held throughout the five-day 𝗭𝗣𝗣𝗦𝗨 𝗣𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗢 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 were acknowledged. As the 𝑺𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒔 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒚 (🏅) and the 𝑪𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑹𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒔 for the 𝗭𝗣𝗣𝗦𝗨 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 concluded, excitement remained high as attendees eagerly anticipated the 𝑹𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚, which followed the remarks delivered by the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐍𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐏. 𝐂𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐥.

𝐌𝐚. 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐆. 𝐖𝐞𝐞, were instrumental in making the 𝗭𝗣𝗣𝗦𝗨 𝗣𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗢 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 a memorable and successful event for both the athletes and the student participants.

We would like also to acknowledge the CTE athletes in different sports who compete during the 𝗭𝗣𝗣𝗦𝗨 𝗣𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗢 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 whether win or not. The 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝘆𝗻𝘅𝗲𝘀 community will still proud to all of you as well as the students who's there to give their full support to our athletes.

The celebration of the 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗭𝗣𝗣𝗦𝗨) 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗼 on November 14, 2024 was filled with incredible team spirit as the athletes from the 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 took their fighting spirits in all categories of sports event.

They showed their grit and determination, bringing home a 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹 (🥉) in volleyball and a 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝗻 (🥇) in pickleball. The volleyball players and pickleball champions demonstrated amazing teamwork and skill.

Their dedication inspires us all and shows that our future educators are ready to lead with passion and commitment.

Onto the 3𝒓𝒅 𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒁𝑷𝑷𝑺𝑼 𝑷𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒓𝒐 2024, athletes took their performance to a new level, giving everything they had to get closer to the finals. The competition was fierce, and the support from the crowd was louder than ever, with each college showing unstoppable school pride.

As the tournament heats up, everyone is eager to see which teams will make it to the championship. The excitement keeps growing!
