The College of Teacher Education's Academic and Non-Academic awardees proudly filled the Juanito Bruno Gymnasium as the college celebrates and conducts its Recognition Day on May 9, 2023.
With the theme, "WMSU graduates 2023: A Testament of Academic Excellence and Commitment for a World Class Professional and Quality Service," Dean's listers and non-academic awardees from first to fourth year were given acknowledgment for their performance throughout their academic journey for the A.Y. 2022-2023.
This was followed by Prof. Floramie S. Ramiro, the President of the CTE Faculty Club, who introduced the Guest Speaker, Mr. Abdulaziz Hajimin Dapilin, a CTE alumnus and Top 9 during the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) 2017.
The giving of awards was then led by the CTE Dean, Dr. Ricardo A. Somblingo.
A total of 412 dean's listers were awarded during the aforementioned event. 160 students from freshmen, 112 from sophomores, 75 from junior, and 65 from senior year. The Young Researcher award was presented to 47 students who showed excellence in their research endeavors, and the Proficiency in Teaching award was given to 62 graduating students who gained a grade of 1.0-1.25 in their teaching internship. In addition, 11 students were awarded for the Demo Fiesta 2022.
Other Non-Academic awards were also given for both graduating and non-graduating students such as Leadership (40), Service (77), Theater (1), Musical (6), Journalism (1), Visual (1), and Athletics Awards (2).
The CTE Class Valedictorian Batch 2023, Ms. Katreena Gayle A. Lao, who will be graduating Summa Cum Laude with a General Weighted Average of 1.1592, gave her speech after the awarding ceremony.
Finally, the event was concluded with the closing remarks given by the CTE Gender Club Adviser, Mr. Robert O. Parcon. The event was concluded by the singing of the WMSU hymn.
With the joined support and efforts of the CTE students, CTE-CSC, and CTE Faculty, this academic year-end event was made possible.
Indeed, this continues to prove that students from the College of Teacher Education are molded with commitment, passion, and above all, excellence.
