Tired of using templates for your design? Level up your design skills by applying design principles. There 6 design principles, namely, 1) Balance, 2) Proximity, 3) Alignment, 4) Repetition, 5) Contrast, and 6) White space.

In this, we will try to learn what is Balance. Balance is the way you put your design together, it is how you LAYOUT your elements. This will help you make your design look organized and clean. There are ways to layout your design, but here are 3 basic layouts you can use

🚻 Symmetrical - from the center, arrange your element on equal weight. You can think of this as dividing your design by half and the one half will look similar to the other half, they mirror each other.

🔛 Asymmetrical - dividing your design by half, either of them will look the same but they seem to balance each other. This will make sense by looking at an example. 😅

⏺ Radial - the weight of your design radiates from the center, and then outwards.

Start using them, try to figure out what balance people are using in their design when you see one.

Are you an aspiring graphic designer? Ever seen a social media post and say "That's so good. I wish I could make something like that too"

Yeah making your graphics can be daunting, specially if you are new to this field. And those software used to making it, like photoshop, new user will get overwhelmed by the number of tools you can use in it 🤯, you might get scared away into learning and think that graphic design is not for you 😥

Worry no more, as there are many paths to learning, there are also many alternatives to software out there. CANVA, canva.com provides you with soooo many templates you can use, all you need is edit its text, color, image, or add more components. Its as easy as that. Unfortunately canva is a paid software, BUT, its free plan has a lot of templates you can use. Most of the time, it is enough for your design.

"Learning something new and getting good at it is never been easy. It takes time and a lot of practice. The same also applies if you want to be a graphic designer. Here are some guidelines for you to get started learning graphic design.

✅ Intention - find out your WHY. Do you really want to be a graphic designer? Write them out. This will help you when you feel unmotivated, you can just refer to your intention.
✅ Planning - create your plan, the key here is to get organized. Make all the necessary learning materials and tools ready. Set a consistent learning schedule.
✅ Theory - learn the basic theory of graphic design, its principles. Like layout and compositions, color theory, typography, etc. Get familiar with all of them.
✅ Practice - Yes, Practice makes perfect, but how? You can start looking for good designs on the internet and then replicate them. This will build your muscle memory, and then when you see a poster post or something anywhere, you can try imagining how you would make it. You can now confidently say, "I know how to do that!"

That's all you need, remember nothing comes easy. Hard work is the key.

Here are skills needed of a graphics designer:

☑ Creativity - you must be creative in combining pictures, text, and other elements in your design.

While words are a great way to use for communication and conveying meanings, images too are great in conveying meaning.

A content strategy is the things you follow before posting anything on your business's social media, these are basically your guidelines. This can be a strategy you found on the internet, but the best of all is a strategy you made and refined from your experience.

If you are just starting or new to this, here is something you should consider and should be aware of before making content. This is called the "Buyer's Journey". The buyer's journey is the phase a customer experiences before purchasing a product or availing of a service.

1. Awareness - this is the phase where the customer realizes that they have a problem, and then they go look for solutions.
2. Consideration - in this phase, the customer looks for a solution to solve his/her problem and also all alternatives or options.
3. Decision - finally, this is where the customer evaluates his/her options and makes the decision.

Having the buyer's journey in mind, you can now think and plan the content you should make. You can create a content that will make your customer realise their problems, and then afterwards, post something that can solve their problems, and finally market your product or services to them.

Copywriting! Not an easy task right? But is there a task that is easy?
Most people say to themselves that they cannot write, that they hate writing, they are not good at it, etc.

A question for you, did you ever told some story to your friends or anyone? If you think about it, copywriting is just like telling a story.

Stop saying you can't write, what you really need is just some push and just start doing it. Many people also have made a format to guide you to better write. The only thing needs from you now is effort.

Here are few formats I have found that you can use in caption making

📌
◼ Headlines - start with a striking headline, that will make your reader curious
◼ Problem - talk more about the problem you're trying to solve
◼ Solution - the solution to the problem
◼ Call-to-action - after your readers finished reading, give them actions they can do next

◼ Question - question usually makes everyone curious, they will try to answer it
◼ Supporting - talk more about the question and provide something that will support your solution later on
◼ Your point - this is your solution or your answer to the question
◼ Call-to-action - again, don't forget this 😉

Somewhere in my life, I dreamt of being proficient in English speaking and writing.

As someone who is not an English speaker, it was very hard for me to speak the language. They say practice makes perfect. But the only way to practice it was in school during an English lesson. It was not enough though, as teachers usually add the native language while speaking in English, and it was not every time during lectures you get called to answer some questions. It was not the right solution.

But that did not let me give up learning it. Instead of relying on anyone else, I made it on myself to read books, particularly textbooks, but 😂, the words and vocabulary used were not that easy to understand. This led me to try reading something that is easy, A STORY-telling book. Now it clicked on me when reading them, I felt the connection. After so many reads, I tried the textbooks again, and to my delight, I started understanding them 😲

Even though I'm still not very good at it... yet. I keep on learning ✍️

What social media site are you using and what for?

At first, I was only using FB as a form of communication with my friends and families, and relatives. Of course, I know that other social media exists, but I was not really sure why would I use them and what their value to me. Then I get into a situation where I need to learn what's happening in the world or my country. Searching in google wasn't really up to date, and that's when I got into Twitter. The spread and updating of news were really fast.

Instagram, I was like "Why to use IG when I have FB already?" 😂 I even have the impression that IG is for people who love graphics 🤦‍♂️ Now using IG for less than 2 months, I came to realize that there's more to it than what I thought. I began to appreciate visual graphics that people share, WOW!, so many amazing graphics from amazing people. I also love the search tab in the app, it's so much easy to find similar things that you like. 👀

Different SNSs have their own use, and there's a reason why people use them.
