Zamboanga City Volleyball Club (ZCVC) made history after having its debut on PNVF U-21 National Championship snatching the silver. Despite falling short against the well established University of the East Boys Volleyball Team on the championship match, ZCVC showed tenacity and resilience giving a great fight from the first set down to the fourth.

This milestone of our youngsters, is an evidence of a well-rounded sports development program of the university and the city. Castillo, Miguel, Javier, Sioting, Manas, together with their head coach Mr. Kerwin Francisco and Asst. Coach Dr. Sammy Paringit, all aimed high in representing our region.

Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University Graduate School successfully run and concluded its Executive Course 2 on Mastering Research Writing for Publications in Scopus-indexed Q1 and Q2 Refereed Journals, held at the Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City from January 24 to 26, 2025.

This course was graced by the resource speaker, Dr. Jean Paolo G. Lacap, who brought together university officials, faculty, and researchers eager to produce high-impact publications for reputable international journals.

With the theme: "Elevating Scholarly Impact: Mastering the Art of Research Writing for Global Publications," the three-day event emphasized ZPPSU's commitment to fostering excellence in academic research and equipping participants with advanced skills in scholarly writing.

The program featured comprehensive sessions on crafting high-quality research aligned with global standards, enhancing publication acceptance rates, and leveraging best practices in academic writing.

The attendees engaged in hands-on activities, discussions, and expert-led workshops designed to refine their research capabilities and elevate their outputs scholarly.

The said event was spearheaded by the Dean, Dr. Elizabeth Jane P. Sebastian, and Associate Dean, Dr. Judith Maghanoy together with the GS Officers. Moreover, it was participated by the delegates from ZPPSU, Bicol University, West Visayas University, MSU Sulu, Furigay College, and DepEd Zamboanga City.

This initiative demonstrated ZPPSU's dedication to empowering the academic community and solidifying its presence in the global academic arena by prioritizing research excellence and innovation.

𝙍𝙚𝙙 𝙀𝙮𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙚

The cup sat before me, its once-steaming contents now tepid, whispering a truth I'd long tried to ignore. The warmth had faded—not in a rush, but quietly, slipping away between moments I didn't think to hold.

I'd poured the coffee with care that morning, the ritual a comforting promise to myself. It was supposed to be simple—a small, ordinary joy in a world that had grown increasingly loud and chaotic. But somehow, I'd let it sit untouched, distracted by the endless noise of things that demanded my attention yet gave me nothing in return.

By the time I reached for the cup, the magic was gone. The coffee was cold.

It hit me harder than it should have. This wasn't just a cup of coffee; it was a reflection of something deeper, something I'd been too afraid to name. How many times had I let moments like this slip through my fingers? How many small joys had I abandoned because I thought I'd get back to them later?

But later never comes—not the way you hope it will.

I stared into the cup, as though its surface might reveal some answer, some justification for the ache blooming in my chest. It didn't, of course. It only offered its silence, its chill. And I realized then that this wasn't just about coffee. It was about the way I'd been living—or failing to live.

How many dreams had I let grow cold, forgotten in the shadows of deadlines and obligations? How many times had I betrayed myself, setting aside my passions because the world told me they weren't practical, weren't urgent, weren't enough?

It wasn't the disappointment of others that weighed on me,it was my own. The quiet, persistent knowledge that I'd let myself down, time and time again.

The coffee was cold, yes. But so was the fire I'd once tended so carefully, the flame of ambition and curiosity that used to light my path. It hadn't gone out completely—no, I could feel its faint heat if I reached deep enough. But it was weak, fragile, in desperate need of tending.

I took a deep breath and stood, the chair scraping softly against the floor. I poured the cold coffee down the sink, watching it swirl away, and promised myself something new.

No more letting the warmth fade without noticing. No more letting life slip through my fingers while I chase things that don't matter. From now on, I will tend the flame. I will cherish the small joys.

Today marks the start of the Pre-Service Teacher Summit at Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University, organized by the College of Teacher Education. This will run through at the Multi-Purpose Hall, 4th floor, Angara Building from January 20-24.

This 5-day event is centered around the theme
“Empowering Educators: Developing Essential Teaching Skills in the Pre-Service Teacher for Effective and Successful Internship.”

The summit serves as a vital platform for aspiring educators to acquire and enhance their essential teaching knowledge and skills, preparing them for the challenges of classroom instruction and professional internships.

With a focus on empowerment and development, participants will engage in interactive workshops, expert-led discussions, and collaborative activities designed to refine their teaching methods, approaches, strategies, and techniques among others.

This initiative reflects ZPPSU's commitment to producing well-rounded, skilled, and confident beginning teachers who are ready to make positive impacts in their future classrooms.

As the summit unfolds over the coming days, it promises to be a transformative experience for all pre-service teachers in attendance.

To enhance its roster of editorial staff, The Industrial Pioneer, the official student publication of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU), reopened its registration and conducted another screening of aspiring student-journalists which started last January 15 at the Student Publication office, CTE Building 2.

Applicants demonstrated their knowledge and skills in various fields including photojournalism, broadcasting, and article writing among others.

TIP is expected to accommodate more aspiring student-journalists toward the end of the month.

𝗭𝗣𝗣𝗦𝗨 e𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 e𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 p𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱, i𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 s𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺

Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) through its various offices improved its system and extended its enrollment period for the second semester from January 13-18, to accommodate students who are not yet registered and officially enrolled.

The university's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) team, working with a dedicated group of student volunteers, ensured a well-organized and efficient enrollment process.

They were stationed at various points within the campus to assist students with any questions or concerns, and to direct them to concerned offices and authorities as needed.

Their presence significantly reduced wait time and contributed to a positive overall experience during the enrollment process.

The classes for the current semester are scheduled to begin on January 20. Hence, the university anticipates a good turnout for the semester, built from the success of the previous semester.
