Ang matagal ng pagkawala ng asawa sa kanilang pamamahay ay maaring ituring na katibayan ng psychological incapacity na basehan para ipawalang-bisa ang kasal.

Sa Desisyon na isinulat ni Senior Associate Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen, pinawalang-bisa ng Korte Suprema ang kasal nina Leonora at Alfredo matapos mapatunayan na tumanggi si Alfredo na magbigay ng pinansyal na suporta sa kanyang pamilya at tuluyang iniwan si Leonora at kanilang mga anak simula 1994.

Napatunayan ding nagkaroon ng relasyon si Alfredo sa ibang mga babae.

Ayon sa Korte Suprema, nakasaad sa Article 68 ng Family Code na obligasyon ng mag-asawa na magsama, magpakita ng pag-ibig, respeto, at katapatan sa isa't isa, at magbigay ng tulong at suporta.

Ang pangangaliwa ni Alfredo, ang kanyang matagal na pagkawala sa tahanan at ang hindi pagbibigay ng suporta sa kanyang misis at anak ay nagpapakita na hindi nya naiintindihan ang kanyang mga obligasyon bilang asawa at ama.

🇵🇭 | 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗝𝗮𝗿𝘀

Burial in earthenware jars and other containers is common funerary tradition associated with the 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀. Burial jars greatly vary in forms and sizes, and are mostly found in caves sites, near coasts, and in the open hilly areas.

The journey of the soul to the afterlife was closely associated by early Filipinos to maritime culture.

Early Filipinos believed that a man is composed of a body, a life force called 𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗵𝗮𝘄𝗮, and a 𝗸𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗹𝘂𝘄𝗮(soul) which explains why the design of the cover of the Manunggul Jar featured three faces — the 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗹, the 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗮𝗻, and 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳.

The 𝗸𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗹𝘂𝘄𝗮, after death, can return to earth to exist in nature and guide their descendants.

Filipino ancestors respected nature as they believe that even things from nature have souls and lives of their own.

Our precolonial ancestors buried the dead in different ways. The tradition of using 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘀 or “𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝗮𝗿𝘀” involves a method in 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹, wherein the remains of the dead initially buried to decompose will be transferred into the vessel for reburial. Mortuary vessels found in archaeological context were usually used as a secondary burial. However, there are exceptions such as the Bacong Burial Vessels that served in 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 where the dead was directly placed inside.

A number of archaeological sites across the country have revealed primary and secondary burial traditions of ancient Filipinos ancestor and their views on the afterlife.

So far, the earliest burial in the Southeast Asian region has been recorded at Ille Cave, Palawan, a burial site that included skinning, dismemberment, smashing of bones, cremation, and burial directly dated at 9,000 years ago.

The earliest known flexed burial (involving the bending of arms or legs) are those from Bubog.

On August 31, 2024, at approximately 12:07 PM, the Philippine Coast Guard vessel BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701) was deliberately rammed three times by Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) vessel 5205 while operating in the vicinity of Escoda Shoal. The aggressive maneuver by CCG 5205, which endangered lives and caused significant damage to the BRP Teresa Magbanua, occurred while the Philippine vessel was conducting routine patrols within the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Escoda Shoal lies just 75 nautical miles from the Philippine baselines, well within our EEZ. The Philippine government emphasizes that the presence of BRP Teresa Magbanua in Escoda Shoal is legal and is in accordance with international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the 2016 Arbitral Award.

The National Maritime Council calls on the CCG to exercise restraint and prioritize the safety of vessels at sea and aircraft within our airspace.

The Philippines will continue its sovereign operations in its maritime zones. The BRP Teresa Magbanua will remain and maintain its operations in the West Philippine Sea. We will not succumb to acts of harassment and aggressive behavior. As directed by the President, the Philippines will fully utilize and continue to pursue diplomatic channels and mechanisms under the rules-based international order and pursue the peaceful resolution of disputes.

China's latest actions are uncalled for as the Philippine vessel was engaged in a peaceful and lawful patrol within its own maritime jurisdiction. The Philippines condemns this unprovoked aggression and remains steadfast in upholding its sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction in the West Philippine Sea. The Philippines will continue our routine maritime activities, protect our territory and maritime zones, and defend against environmental degradation and other illegal activities. (END)⁩

Ayon sa Provincial Tourism Promotions and Development Office (PTPDO), layunin ng muling paglahok sa nasabing aktibidad na lalong mapaigting ang pagpapakilala ng iba’t ibang tourism destinations gayundin ang mga ipinagmamalaking produkto ng mga munisipyo sa lalawigan.

Sa pamamagitan din nito ay maaaring makahikayat pa ng mas maraming bilang ng mga domestic o lokal na turista na bibisita sa lalawigan. Sa ngayon ay nakapagtala na ng higit isang milyong turista ang bumisita sa Palawan mula Enero hanggang Hulyo ngayong taon.
