On December 9, 2024, the Special Action Force launched the Seaborne Warfare Course (SSWC) Class 03-033-SAF-2024-001. The event was graced by PMGEN MARK D PESPES, Director, SAF at 84SAC, Brgy. 10 Estancia, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.

This course aims to enhance the SAF's ability to counter evolving maritime threats. It includes advanced naval tactics, specialized seaborne combat techniques, maritime law enforcement procedures, and essential survival and rescue skills.

PMGEN PESPES challenged the paricipants stating, "The road ahead will be tough, but it is this toughness that will set you apart as a SAF seaborne trooper."

The SAF is committed to the success of this endeavor and to training more SAF seaborne troopers to become highly skilled and capable guardians of the nation's maritime interests.

CTG Member Arrested for Multiple Murder in Negros Oriental

Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental-- On December 7, 2024, composite personnel of 64SAC, 6th Special Action Battalion and 81SAC and ERSC of Rapid Deployment Battalion, all of PNP SAF provided tactical support to the elements of Guihulngan City Police Station, Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office as a lead unit together with other law enforcement units and the Philippine Army and successfully arrested a Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) member for the crime of multiple murder in Sitio Compound, Brgy. Luz, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

The subject personality is also identified as a Non-PSR Listed, CTG member under Central Negros 2-Dismantled, Komiteng Rehiyon- Negros, Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor.

The operation was implemented through the service of Warrant of Arrest with Criminal Case No. 12-030-G for Multiple Murder (non-bailable) issued by Presiding Judge, RTC Branch 64, 7th Judicial Region, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental dated June 23, 2014.

Guihulngan CPS, Negros Oriental PPO took custody of the arrested person for documentation and proper disposition.

The PNP SAF and other law enforcement units are continously working together to maintain the peace and order in Negros Island and bring criminals to justice.

Flag Ceremony and Awarding of Personnel

On December 9, 2014 , the personnel of Special Action Force held their regular Flag Ceremony and Awarding of Personnel at the Headquarters SAF Gymnasium Fort Sto Domingo, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, highlighting the dedication and service of its members.

The honorees were awarded Medalya ng Papuri for their exemplary performance as facilitators in the recent bloodletting activity, conducted in collaboration with Healthway Medical Network and Qualimed Hospital.

PBGEN MANUEL J ABRUGENA, Deputy Director of the Special Action Force, led the ceremony and extended his heartfelt congratulations to the awardees. In his inspiring message, he emphasized the spirit of forgiveness as the year draws to a close, reminding everyone:

“This is the best time to forgive ang mga nakaalitan… kaya tayo ay magbigay ng patawad nang may magaan ang kalooban.” He further reflected on the importance of healing and moving forward.

The ceremony was a fitting tribute to the dedication of SAF personnel and a timely reminder of the values of camaraderie, compassion, and renewal as the SAF looks forward to another year of service and excellence.

PNP LAUNCHES INTENSIFIED HOLIDAY SECURITY MEASURES

As the holiday season approaches, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil has directed intensified security operations to ensure public safety, prevent criminal activities, and address political security challenges arising from the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.

With comprehensive plans covering on-ground security, cybercrime operations, and preparedness for unforeseen events, the PNP underscores its commitment to maintaining peace and order during this crucial time.

“Christmas is a season of joy and giving, but it is also a period when criminal elements may exploit public vulnerability. The PNP is committed to making this season safe and secure for all Filipinos,” Gen. Marbil emphasized.

To enhance public safety, police units nationwide have been directed to intensify visibility through regular patrols and the deployment of additional personnel in high-traffic areas such as malls, markets, and transport hubs. Quick response teams will also be on standby to address incidents promptly.

"The presence of uniformed personnel in public areas is a reassurance of our dedication to protecting the public. We aim to provide peace of mind during the holiday rush,” Gen. Marbil added.

With a surge in online transactions during the season, the PNP’s Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) is focusing on curbing online scams and fraud. Gen. Marbil urged the public to remain vigilant by verifying transactions and avoiding suspicious links. “Our operations target the syndicates behind these scams, but the public’s awareness and caution are crucial in preventing victimization,” he said.

The PNP is also preparing for potential political activities, including announced prayer rallies by the Iglesia Ni Cristo in support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s position on the impeachment case and possible demonstrations by proponents of the case.

“Our mandate is clear: to ensure public safety under any circumstances. The PNP is a professional and apolitical organization. We are here to serve and protect all Filipinos, regardless of the political climate," the PNP Chief emphasized.

He also encouraged the public to adopt basic safety practices, such as safeguarding personal belongings, avoiding large cash transactions, and reporting suspicious activities.

Born on June 17, 1973, in the picturesque city of Naga, Camarines Sur, she has risen through the ranks with a combination of hard work, academic excellence, and an unyielding commitment to the values of the PNP.

PCOL GUZMAN began her academic journey with a degree in Political Science, which laid a strong foundation for her understanding of governance and public administration. Her journey in law enforcement began with her entry into the prestigious Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), where she became the 1st Female Company Commander, and graduated as a proud member of 𝐏𝐍𝐏𝐀 "𝐊𝐀𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐏𝐀𝐘" 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝟏𝟗𝟗𝟔. She further honed her leadership and administrative skills by earning a Master’s in Public Administration, a qualification that complements her responsibilities in the police force. Over the years, her dedication to duty and exemplary performance in various roles have cemented her reputation as a trailblazer in the police force.

As the Commandant of Cadets, PCOL GUZMAN is entrusted with the critical responsibility of molding future leaders of the PNP. Her leadership is marked by a commitment to instill discipline, integrity, and service-oriented values among cadets, ensuring they are prepared for the challenges of modern policing.

Behind PCOL Guzman’s professional accomplishments is a supportive family that serves as her foundation. She is married to PBGEN BENIGNO L GUZMAN, whose unwavering encouragement has been instrumental in her career. Together, they have raised three accomplished children: Krishtine Mae, Kenneth Ian, and Khevin Ivan Guzman.
