CONFIDENTIAL FUNDS, HINDI ITUTULOY NG OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT
Sinabi ni Senador Sonny Angara ngayong araw ng Huwebes, Nobyembre 9, 2023 hindi na itutuloy ni Vice President Sara Duterte ang P500 milyon na
confidential and intelligence funds (CIF) sa ilalim ng proposed 2024 national budget.
“We are in receipt of a statement from the Vice President, we discussed earlier and according to her, the OVP can only propose a budget to support the safe implementation of it's PAPs to alleviate poverty and promote the welfare of each and every Filipino family,” sabi ni Angara
“Nonetheless, they will no longer pursue the CIF and the reason why is because it is seen to be divisive and as the Vice President, she swore an oath to keep the country peaceful and strong,” dagdag niya
Nauna nang sinabi ng ama ni Duterte na si Dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na balak ng Bise Presidente na gagamitin ang Confidential at Intelligence Funds para muling buhayin ang Mandatory Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program sa bansa.
“Binasa ko ang rationale. Ang plano niya—unahan ko na lang, so I’m sorry I have to divulge this because binigay mo naman sa’kin, then I just make it public—gamitin niya ang pera, it’s only P125 million, gamitin niya sa mga BMT, palakasin niya sa high school, pati ibalik talaga niya ang ROTC. Ipilit niya. Make it compulsory,” pahayag ni Pangulong Duterte sa panayam sa kaniya ng SMNI.
Samantala, sinabi rin ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri na “moot and academic” na ang isyu sa CIF para sa Office of the Vice President at ayaw na ni VP ibalik ang confidential funds.
